Laundry question

I know this may sound silly but at what age can I start combining Dds laundry with ours?
She's 5.5 months is it really necessary to still do the separately?
Also if anyone can explain why to do it separate in general if appreciate it....I've been doing it that way but have no idea why

Re: Laundry question

we did DS laundry separate in the beginning and washed it with all free and clear and no dryer sheets. then we started doing that for all of our laundry and mix them together. although, a lot of times we do end up with separate loads just because of the laundry baskets (we keep a basket in DS room)

I use All Free and Clear for everyone so it doesn't really matter if our things combine with the baby's. Chat Icon

Re: Laundry question

We can use the same detergent now, but I keep the laundry separate anyway. Just easier when putting it away. We have separate laundry baskets anyway and between towels, delicates, our, the boys and bedding I do a ton. Lol

Same here. I think I lasted like a month doing separate loads for my first son & since then everything has been mixed together.

I'm not sure, but maybe it has to do with fabric softener? I don't think you're supposed to use it on children's clothes because it makes them flammable...don't quote me on that though. Not using fabric softener is the rule that I follow without remembering why Chat Icon

DS has very sensitive skin so we still wash his clothes separately. All of our laundry is washed in All Free and Clear but DS's doesn't get any dryer sheets.

Laundry question

I think as a newborn their skin is very sensitive which is why you use fragrance free soap.

Sometimes I do it separate only because it's easier to put away that way...but sometimes we combine it and just use all free and clear for everyone. They have fragrance free dryer sheets too which we use because the first time we didn't everything was so stuck together.

Laundry question

I always used the free & clear for DS & regular tide for us. But I actually prefer keeping them separate anyway, makes it easier folding & putting away. I don't mix DH's with mine either because his work clothes are gross!

Same here. I do tend to do the boys separate though since it's easier to sort.

Re: Laundry question

With DS#1, we washed his stuff separately for months. Then we just slowly started adding his clothes to ours... we were sick of doing so many loads of laundry.

With DS#2... poor thing isn't even here yet and we've been washing his stuff with our own... sometimes with free and clear, sometimes with Dreft, sometimes with our regular detergent.

Laundry question

I never separated it and we always used tide just fine or the Honest Company laundry soap. I think things like Dreft are such a waste of money.

ds is 10m and I still wash all of ds clothes separately. I work in a hospital setting and I just feel like my clothes are too germy to wash with his.

Re: Laundry question

DD is 2 and I still do her laundry separate, but more so because it's easier to put it away. If something needs to be washed I don't hesitate to mix though.
