Late Shower?

Do you think 36 weeks is too late for a baby shower? My mom doesn't seem to think so, but I don't think it's such a good idea. She also thinks that 33 weeks is too early! (these are the only two dates available at the restaurant she chose) What do you think?

Re: Late Shower?

My sister wanted mine to be at 36 weeks also. I told her she was crazy.

So, mine will be May 18th at which point I will be almost 34 weeks.

Re: Late Shower?

I'm assuming this is your first baby? If so, I'd push for a shower before 34 weeks - in case you go on bedrest or have the baby early.
You'll also need time to sort through all the items you receive, return duplicates, wash the clothing, pick up things you may have forgotten about, organize it all. The time will fly!

Also, a friend of mine was scheduled to have her shower at week 36 and she had the baby at week 35....baby came three weeks ago and they re-scheduled her shower to become a "luncheon" and we all scrambled to get her the things she needed in time for bringing home the baby.

Had mine at 37.5 weeks and lived to tell about it. I b!tched about it too, but at the same time, what are you going to do, someone is throwing it for you, so you can't really say that much.

I had mine on April 14th and had DS on April 26th and everything was fine.

Re: Late Shower?

I would go for the 33 weeks one, so you have more time to organize the stuff.

I am having a shower thrown by DH job and I'll be 37weeks.....but I am just so excited that they are throwing us a shower, I wouldn't care when it was!!!

I had mine at 34 weeks and thought it was perfect. IMO, I think that 36 weeks may be cutting it a bit close...

Re: Late Shower?

I am a freak about organizing my things so for me, this would be too late. If all goes well, I would like mine at around 33 or 34 weeks.

Re: Late Shower?

I think i was 34 or 35 weeks when i had mine. I was really hoping it would have been a few weeks sooner. I was tired, hot, feeling big and ugly. I had to return some stuff and buy what i didnt get, and the last week or so can be rough. If i had to pick i would have liked my shower to be between 31-33 weeks.

Re: Late Shower?

I had my shower at 30 weeks and it was perfect. Gave me time to do returns, wash and organize.

My office was planning on throwing me a shower at 35 weeks but I never made it there. I was put on bedrest at 34 weeks and delivered at 36!

Re: Late Shower?

I would definitly go for the 33 weeks. I'm currently just about 37 weeks and still have not had mine yet and let me tell you i'm not even in the mood for it at this point because I just don't feel well anymore. You will enjoy it more and not have to worry so much, and trust me it is by no means tooo early because my OB told me yesterday that I an go any day now and so I may not even make my shower

Re: Late Shower?

I'm pretty sure my shower is taking place the first weekend in March...I'll be almost 36 weeks. I think that's perfectly fine!

Re: Late Shower?

Mine is next week and I will be 35 weeks. I wish it was a little earlier, but then again my apartment was not cleaned out and ready for the stuff until now.
