Last Oil Question PROMISE!
So I'm trying to get an idea of how much oil I'll need... last year we had a total of 3 deliveries...I have no idea what size our tank is, but the gage is also broken so we are fixing that this weekend. So just a general question, and I know that it varies for the size of your house, and how high you keep the heat and also the age of your broiler. Well, we have a tiny tiny house... it's 2 bedrooms, no dining room, ranch style. It's an old broiler. This is the first year we are doing COD...just going with the cheapest company around... So I was just wondering ... if I were to get 75 gallons, APPROX how long do you tink that would last..? How many gallons of oil do you typically get..? I know it's very general, but... just trying to get an idea! THANKS!

I usually order 100 gallons. It depends. 75 gallons in the cold, freezing months like December thru early March.........may last you only a month. So I would order once a month. Once end of March comes.......I may fill up......and not order again until October/November.
ETA: We also use it for hot water as well......not just heat. So if thats the case, you may go thru the oil a little quicker.

Well I'm thinking of ordering about 75-150 gallons... it really all depends on our budget, but just wondering about how long that will last. We only just put the heat on 62 about 3 days ago. Last year we put it on once it was chilly LOL. We are hoping to get a space heater to help with the oil bill and all that.
So if 75 gallons lasts about a month, then do you think it's safe to say that about 375 gallons would cover us the whole winter..? Does that even make sense?? LOL
ETA: our hot water is electric

Is your tank that big to hold 375 gallons because most will hold about 250??? If so, I would say it should definitely last you most of the winter.....at least until end of February. LOL

No no no.. LOL... I'm just saying how much we would use throughout the whole winter...not how much our tank will hold...if that makes sense. LOL. Like I would get 75 - 150 gallons for each fill up and I would do it once a month... so about 300 gallons or so should last all winter...do you think? LOL

The standard size tank is 275 gal. Depending on size of house and how much you use the norm is 600-800 gallons a year. Some people use over a 1,000. It all depends. I would highly doubt 350 gal will get you through the winter.

Thanks...as you can tell I am compltely clueless on this. I'm gonna try to find the statements from last years deliveries... I know that we had a total of 3 fill up that were about $700 each.. so b/c it was soo expensive we are doing COD now. So I'm just thinking that if we use 75-100 gallons a month, and we only really use the heat from Nov till Feb and then very scarely in March / April, ... I think I'm starting to confuse myself now. I dread winters now...oy. I hope finanically we can get through it again....
