Lands End Toddler Coats?
Does anyone have one for their child? They're having a 50% off outerwear sale today online and I'm thinking of getting DD one. Which one do you have? How's the sizing? Its hard to tell by the picture if some of them are too "poofy" for the carseat. Thanks!

Re: Lands End Toddler Coats?
I have the Lands End Squall for DD. This is her second one. The sizing is pretty true- in fact it runs a bit big. I always size up though so it lasts her more than one season. She wore her current one last year and this year and it still fits with plenty of room (but she doesn't grow much. )
It's super warm even though it's thin due to the insulation.
As far as teh car seat, I don't feel it's thin enough for it, but nothing really is if you want to be technical
It's thinner than the puffy type jackets though, for sure

Re: Lands End Toddler Coats?
I bought the Land's End coat for my 3.5 yr old DS and I felt it was WAY too puffy/big on him and I was getting so frustrated constantly taking it off and on in the cold weather. It's a REALLY nice coat but it wasn't working for us so I got the Children's Place 3-in-1 (on sale for less than $20!!!) and it's working SO much better for us. I like that I can easily slip off the outer coat but he still has the nice, warm inner fleece on. It's more comfortable for him and easier for me.

Lands End Squall jackets/parkas are awesome. Very warm but thin/not poofy. Perfect for car seats. I usually get 2 years out of each coat.

Thanks for the input. Is the only difference between the jacket and parka that the parka is longer?

I did the squall jacket. LOVE them, esp. the length and those inner sleeve things with the thumb holes. My only beef is that I got it personalized and their name is embroidered on the front, not the inside

Are your children in car seats? If so, do you feel they're thin enough to wear? Or do you take it off?

I know a lot of people here love them, but I really hated it. I had the parka. It was really stiff, so when she sat, the whole jacket raised up (it didn't bend with her, if that makes sense), so the jacket shoulders were as high as the top of her head! She hated that coat!

I reluctantly keep them in it but I unzip the top part so it doesn't stab them in the throat Yes I find they're not too bulky to crank down the seatbelts. DH and I are picky about this and I was nervous that they'd be "against the rules", but they're fine. I used to take jackets off etc, but I now have 3 crazy children and a lot less energy.

I think the jacket is WAY too bulky to wear in the car. I have no idea why someone would risk it. I'd prefer to run quickly from the car to the store with no jacket on my DS then to let him go in his car seat with the jacket. He won't die from being outside in 20 degree weather for 1 minute but he could be ejected from the car if the straps aren't tight enough.
