Land survey

I just informed my neighbor that we're going to put up a fence. She asked me what kind, how high and up to where it was going to go. Currently there is no existing fence. The survey from 4 yrs ago say my property starts 2 feet from her walk way. She feels that she has more property. My question is do you think I should have it "staked out?"

Anyone know how much this would cost? I already have the actual survey. I just don't want any issues with property lines.

Re: Land survey

You can do a 4 corner stakeout, and yes, you should do it if you are putting up a fence for sure. I would, esp in this case. If you have the existing survey, you can provide the surveyor with it and they can quickly and easily (and much cheaper too) do a 4 corner stakeout for a fence. Not siure what it would cost, depends on your property size.

Re: Land survey

Same situation for us. Someone recommended getting the property "staked out." I highly recommend it! I'd also suggest checking with your town about permits and how many feet from the property line the fence can be. You won't have any issues if you do everything by the book. I can look up the land surveyor who did our "stake out" if you want.
The cost depends on the size of your property. They can tell you over the phone. Also, they were pretty fast to do the job, only hold up was the weather.

Thanks I'd appreciate that number. Ive been told that getting a fence permit through the town of hempstead could take up to 6 wks but I'd rather do it by the book to avoid problems
