Headed to Lancaster tomorrow and have a 2 night stay booked at the Eden Resort. We are def doing Dutch for a day but is a two night stay necessary?

Trying to decide if we should keep the second night of our stay or skip it and just stay one night and do Dutch and maybe one other activity.

What are your favorites/ must do activities in the area??

Re: Lancaster/Dutch Wonderland

You need two nights. It's a long drive.

We get there, have a leisurely lunch, and hang out at the pool/spray area at Eden on the first day.

Second day is the park all day. Back to the hotel pool late afternoon for a bit.

Third day is breakfast and home.

I don't like feeling rushed and the pool/spray area at Eden is awesome so you want to be able to enjoy it fully without rushing.

Do you go back to the hotel in the afternoon and then head back to park afterwards?

We stayed one night the first time we went and wish we stayed two.

We did the same thing as Nell but, we did the preview the night we got there after the spray area. Once we leave the park, we typically don't go back on the same day.

We did two nights. First day we got there in the morning, did Dutch all day and then got dinner. Second day we went to Strasburg RR, Turkey Hill Factory, hung out at the pool, then got dinner.

Stay 2 nights! We actually just went this year for the first time and did 3. We loved hanging by the pool..my son loved it! The resort is so nice!

ETA: We also went to Kettle kitchen village which had cute little shops to walk around.

We drove to Hershey. It's about a 40 min drive

Kids loved the chocolate factory and my son who is a daredevil loved the bigger rides

We're probably going for the 1st time this year. Is Eden really that great? I think I might look for just a basic hotel and do stuff in the area. We might also do Hershey on the same trip.

Is the turkey hill factory on the way to dutch wonderland from the island or is it further? Trying to decide if we should stop to check it out on the way in or once we are in.

I struggled with this decision too.. I wasnt sure it was worth the extra $ in the hotel bc i dont know if we will spend much time there-- but the difference wasnt huge in cost so I just went with Eden

No. The park is a one shot deal. Once we leave, we're gone. It's not big enough to warrant spending the day then going back at night.

I'm a hotel snob, so to me, a better hotel is ALWAYS worth it.

We are going on a Friday-Sunday. We're planning on hanging at the hotel on Friday and possibly doing the DW preview, spending Saturday at the park and then home on Sunday. It is crazy to do a ride on the strasburg railroad on Sunday before we head home? Many other things are closed on Sundays in that area.

A nice hotel is definitely worth more to me, but I don't if we'll have time for the pool and playground.

I think Eden was worth it for the kids pool area.

We went last June (2016) and it was there, right outside the pool. Very small, just a few holes in an open space - but my kids enjoyed it.

We always stay at Eden and do at least 2 days. You can spend and entire day at the pool there alone.

Sometimes we arrive, go in the pool, have dinner and then head to Dutch afterwards (like 5:30/6- 8pm). Then the tickets are good for the whole next day. I think it's called twilight pass (you can look on their site). I love doing this because it's cooler out and less crowded. Then the next day we pool at Eden again, then head to Dutch in the afternoon, hit an awesome dinner, like Good & Plenty then do some night swimming.

Turkey hill is about 30 min further past Dutch, closer to downtown Lancaster. So, not on the way but not really that far out of the way.

I looked into Eden but it was pretty expensive since it was July 4th weekend. We ended up at Hampton Inn Lancaster and I loved it. It was about 6-7 minutes from Dutch Wonderland. Probably about 30-40 minutes from Hershey Park.

We're going for 3 nights next week. Last year we did two nights and felt like we had no time to enjoy the resort!
