Lamaze (especially BTDT moms)
How necessary was it? DH's hours make it really difficult to go together. He works nights and weekends. My mom said she would do it with me, but I'd really rather do it with DH.
The other problem is that money is really really really tight. $125 is really a burden for us right now. I've had a lot of women tell me all the info goes out the window, so I'm not sure if it's really worth it.
FTR - I'm delivering at Good Sam. Normal pregnancy so far, no issues and I'll be 29 weeks Saturday.

Re: Lamaze (especially BTDT moms)
We went, but mainly bc we wanted the hospital tour . They gave us some good information, but when I was on the bed, I wasn't thinking of what I learned in lamaze. My body did what it knew to do, and the nurses coached me through everything step by step.
Not necessary imo.

Re: Lamaze (especially BTDT moms)
I just took the weekend class at Good Sam and I am SO glad I did! I really got a lot out of it and I have a very different idea of what I would like my labor to be like. (Obviously, I know things don't always go according to plan.) Personally, I would take it if you can. I obviously have never given birth but I feel more prepared for what is coming then I did before I went! There were a few people there with moms instead of spouses!

Re: Lamaze (especially BTDT moms)
I took it and enjoyed the classes. I learned a lot about the entire birth process. That said, I did not use anything I learned while in labor. I forgot most of it and the breathing techniques just did not cut it for me at all.
In your situation I would probably skip it. You can read a lot of the info on the internet these days and I think some of the videos may be available on the lamaze website.

Re: Lamaze (especially BTDT moms)
I took it at lij and don't think it was necessary. When in labor you figure out how to breath comfortably and once I was in The hospital the nurses were phenomenal with helping

Lamaze (especially BTDT moms)
I took it but unfortunately it didn't come in handy because I had a c-section and never actually felt contractions / real labor. I was being induced and when I walked in they basically expected I'd wind up with a c/s so they gave me an epidural very early on.

Yup. The nurse said to me- did you take a childbirth class? I said no. She said- ok this is how you push. And told me exactly how to do it in about 2 minutes. It's not that complicated.

You don't need it - the nurses tell you what to do.

Re: Lamaze (especially BTDT moms)
I took it before the birth of my son and I honestly didn't use it. I also ended up having a c section after pushing for a few hours.

I didn't take any classes and doubt it would have helped in the heat of the moment anyway.

Lamaze (especially BTDT moms)
I went 16 years ago and it was a total waste of time. When the time came all of the breathing techniques went out the window. I was more comfortable moaning during contractions. Lol

Maybe read a book? There are lots of good ones on natural pain relief methods if that's what you're after. If not, just read up (online or whatever) on the stages of childbirth and pain relief so you are informed before you go in.

Re: Lamaze (especially BTDT moms)
I took a class with Baby Breaths. DH thought it was a waste. I thought it was informative and interesting.
I would up with a C-section so it was kind of a waste. By the time I had my 2nd- I forgot most of it.
I say rent a DVD on lamaze.

Waste of time and if you are tight on money then def don't. You can rent vids from the library and You tube stuff.
You will be fine without.

Check out the Laugh and Learn DVDs.
Really forget lamaze, forget your OB, forget your birth plan, forget your partner - the NURSES are the stars of the labor show. They are amazing, and really help you through every step!!
