Lake George - in general
All this talk about Lk George. What do you do there..I was there once for a ski trip - dont remember where we stayed - but I just remember I wasn't too impressed - w/ the hotel or the town.
can anyone change my mind? Is it more a summer place to go?
Thanks !

Re: Lake George - in general
It is more of a "summer" vacation, I think. I was just up there was week - actually I was at Lake Luzerne which is about 15 minutes away and ALOT cheaper to rent at than Lake George.
I've never rented on Lake George itself becuase of the price and I find it very touristy and expensive for a whole week - Lake Luzerne, Loon Lake, Scroon Lake are close to go for the day to go to LG and much cheaper, a little quieter, if you like that, and less tourists.
LG has alot to do - you can go water tubing, horseback riding, mini golf, there are alot of shops on the "strip" - the wax museum, all the tourist shops, the Old Time Photo place, restaurants, etc.

This! We rented a house in Lake George specifically so we could visit this place Adirondack Extreme. It's basically like Road Rules. lol! It's all sorts of obstacles and bridges and ziplines and it was HARD. It took us HOURS and we didn't even finish but we had a great time and it was truly something different.

It's a summer place. The whole town pretty much shuts down in the winter. There's lots to do as PP mentionned in the summer and the past few years they have been doing a lot of updating and revitalizing of the town.

Where did you rent at Lake Luzerne?
