For those that hate the commute from LI to NYC

I work on LI but I hate my job and I have been looking around for something else - but the salaries are very similar to what I make and I don't know if it would be worth it to leave to go to somewhere else where I might be just as unhappy.

I got a call yesterday about a job that could pay starting up to $20k more than I'm currently making.

I was wondering what would you do in my shoes.

I would go for the interview it can't hurt. If you hate your job that much I would start looking for a new one. I commuted from Ronkonkoma to downtown Manhattan for 4 years. I really didn't mind. I enjoyed the train, I would sleep or read. Eventually I made friends that I still see a few times a year even though we haven't commuted together in over 3 years.

Thanks! I commuted one other time 2.5 hours each way when I wasn't living down here. I enjoyed the train ride. I mean I know the cons of the train when it is not running on time but I also know the traffic on the LI parkways as well. I think there are probably pros and cons to both. I would love to meet some people !

Very true there are pros and cons to both. I absolutely hate traffic it drives me crazy, I wish I could leave this crazy city and move to Alaska or someplace quiet, but unfortunately I am stuck here.
