Ladies I need some suggestions for Father's Day...

Since I am a SAHM I don't have a lot of money to spend. DH does leave me money for things that I need to get whether it's for me or DS. I feel bad buying him a gift with money he gave me, it's like him paying for his own gift. You know what I mean?

I had some money that my mom gave me for my birthday and mother's day left over. I spent some of it on things I needed and had enough left over to get DH a picture frame. What else can I do for him??? I feel so bad that I can't get him anything nice. He got me a nice precious moments figurine and a basket bouquet of flowers for Mother's Day and I feel bad cuz I can't get him anything nice. He works hard supporting us on a teacher's salary and getting us the things we need. He is a great person and a good provider. What can I do for him besides the frame???

Just a suggestion - make up your own coupon book for things like a massage from you, you'll make his favorite dinner, etc. Cheap and something most men would appreciate!

I like the coupon idea book! We're having dinner at my mom's because she lives next door and it's also Father's Day for my Dad. He's definitely getting breakfast. Whatever he wants made.

DH and I don't usually do gifts beyond birthday and christmas. The past 2 years I get him a card from me, and one from the kids, let Sarah color in the card or on a piece of paper and he's thrilled with it. He'll sit with her and ask her to tell him about it and then he puts it on his nightstand.

This year I also got them each a t-shirt from Target for $5 each (My dad is the man and I get my good looks from my dad) and will take a pic of them wearing the shirts for him.

I got him the 2 cards. One from me and one from DS. He can't color yet cuz he'll only be 1 year old but I'll take his hand and make him do a scribble.

I got DH a picture frame last year that said "Daddy's Little Girl" and put a picture of DD in it. WHy don't you get something like that for your DH's office? I also got the kids book "I love my Daddy".

Oh and I created a video for him on One true media. It's of him and DS only. Of course I added solo pics of DS because there are a lot that DH loves.

Sarah loved to color at 1. I would put her in her booster seat at the table and she'd color happily for a while in coloring books. It's so cute, they hold the crayon in their little fist. Chat Icon

Mine would either put it in his mouth or drop it on the floor. He is obsessed with dropping things on the floor. Chat Icon

I told him that I'm sorry I can't really buy him anything nice. He said breakfast is just fine.

Michael's has these really cute kits where you can make a stepping stone for the garden for DH with DS's handprints. It's only like $10 and with a few little accessories it could be really cute for under $20. I am planning on making one for DH (i'm a SAHM with a tight budget as well).

I think the pic frame and some sweet time at home is wonderful!

I don't really have any other ideas for you but I just wanted to tell you to not feel bad about using "his" money to buy him something, I am a SAHM and I buy DH stuff all the time. To me even though he's out earning it the money is ours and I don't look at it like he's buying his own gift....it's actually picking out and giving him something that means something, not where the money came from.

Re: Ladies I need some suggestions for Father's Day...

We just made my DH a shiet that says "Hands Down the Best Dad" and I had the kids stamp their hand prints on the shirt with fabric paint. Of course after I did this I saw the same shirt at Walmart with it written on it already and you just have to do the kids hand prints. I didn't check the price but it can't be that much.

That's true...

Well I'll give him the frame with a picture of DS...I'll make him breakfast and maybe bake him a cake and write Happy Father's Day...

How about this- I took a pic of DD and DH and will put it in there. I have no money either but I know he will love the pic for his desk.

I don't get the his money concept. You are both doing what needs to be done to make your family work. The money he earns is family money not his money. I would buy him something with the house money and not feel bad about it.
