Kofinas Girls...

I had my first appt in his office today and I hear wonderful things about him, but he's on vacation so I saw Nguyen.

Who is Nguyen? I don't even see anything about him on Kofinas's website - and so far I'm concerned about his "bedside manner". He scared the crap out of me today in how he told me about a lesion in the placenta and thrombophylia. He almost made it sound like they can treat it - if not for this pregnancy then the next. Um... I want THIS one. I had to ask a million questions in such away to allay my own fears. I wrote more about the details on another topic, but I'm just curious about your opinions of him. If this was the main doc, I would have picked somethere else after today. I will - from now on - ONLY go to Kofinas. I had no choice today since it was time sensitive...

don't worry....dr ngyuen is fine, different style than kofinas but he's NEVER there, he's usually in another office. kofinas will be back on the 14th and he is always there.

i have thrombophilia, it's a clotting disorder, treatable, did they mention lovenox to you?

i'm sure your next appt will be when kofinas is back. and you will love him. he's kinda hard to understand sometimes he's got a very thick greek accent but he's awesome i love him

you're in really great hands between kofinas and pillitteri. it's kinda crazy my last appt at kofinas is this coming thursday and next friday is my c-section, and i don't think i would've made it to this point without dr kofinas or pillitteri for sending me to kofinas

Both Dr. Kofinas and Dr. Nguyen are very straight forward and to the point. They will never sugar coat anything. I saw both of them regularly throughout my pregnancy. If it was not for Dr. Nguyen, i would have had and lost my twins at 24.5 weeks. My cervix got really short and I had to have a cerclage put in place. Dr. Nguyen did the cerclage and i was starting to funnel right before he did the stitch. But everything turned out great! You are in great hands with both of them. My first appointment there was with Dr. Kofinas and i left there feeling absolutely terrified. He was very blunt and told me of all of the things that could go wrong with my twin pregnancy and what we are going to monitor for. He did not appear to have a good bedside manner when i first met him. Then when my blood work came back, i was diagnosed with Thrombophilia and Dr. Nguyen told me that I need to be on Lovenox otherwise I will clot and my placentas will start to die. I saw them every 2 weeks and then every week from 23 weeks until i gave birth. Both Kofinas and Nguyen are great Drs. and neither of them will steer you wrong. Good luck!!!!

I totally agree. Dr Kofinas and Dr Nguyen are very to the point. I left the office terrified after the first visit, but I slowly learned they are just VERY proactive and they are just doing everything to ensure you have a healthy baby. They are both pretty serious but they are the best. You will mostly see Dr Kofinas if you go to garden city. I only saw Dr Nguyen a handful of times and found him to be the more "laid back" dr.
