Know what comment I hate?
Just wait till after the baby is born.
You know, the ones that go like this:
You won't clean after the baby is born. Just try going to the movies after the baby is born. Good luck with that after the baby is born.
All said with a smirk.
YOU are NOT ME!!! Maybe I WON'T do those things after the baby is born. But I sure as he!! will try! Ugh.

Re: Know what comment I hate?
I hear ya... I get that a lot, too, and it drives me nuts!
I also hate when people ask how I am - and then I say okay, except my back is killing me - and they say something like, "Well, honey... that's all part of it" or something like that. If you don't want to know and are going to "judge" me for my back hurting, then don't ask!!

I agree with both of those and have another to add..."wow..get that rest now!" in response to being on bed rest...like this is what I would choose!

Re: Know what comment I hate?
Don't even get me started with comments. I heard alll of the above.....plus tons more.
My favorite is-I have no clue how you're going to do it with 3, maybe you can call in the Red Cross to see if they can help you when the babies come home.
Also, because I don't have a 24 hr smile on my face, people say I look misresable being pregnant. I never been so happy in my life.
People need to shut their mouths and really mind their own business.

Re: Know what comment I hate?
I always hated when people said "just wait -- your life is going to change completely"
I mean DUH I never had a baby before so yes, my life will change.
They always said it like it's a bad thing. It's a fabulous thing.
People are so annoying.
And I definitely still clean, still cook, and we still go out. People are so stupid. I never went to the movies before so that didn't change. They should take their negativity and shove it!!!!

This one really makes me want to punch people in their face.
I will usually answer with "Oh, so did you learn some magical way to bank sleep that no one else has been able to do? Please teach me."

Re: Know what comment I hate?
Aaarrggghh. That one drives me crazy. I hate the "just wait, you'll see". I'm not saying that things won't be difficult and different, but DH and I fully intend to try to not be the type of people who lock themselves away and forget that there is a life outside of their own 4 walls. We keep joking to eachother about how we hope the baby likes being in her carseat, bc we love to just hit the road and go for drives.
I'm a realist though, and I do realize that it's not going to be as easy as it is now, but I feel like if you don't let yourself fall into the habit of never going anywhere or doing anything, then you'd be off to a better start. It really irks me when people use their kids as an excuse for everything in their life and then assume that everyone can and should feel the same way.

Re: Know what comment I hate?
yup, I always hated comments like that. Especially the sleeping one. It's BS. Yes, my 4 wk old DD will get up throughout the night to be changed, fed, etc, but I still SLEEP. it's not as though I'm up all night and all morning and a scary mess during the day. lol. And somehow I DO find time to shower, put on makeup & clothes, and yes even clean the house. We've even gone out to eat with the family a couple weeks ago and DD slept the entire time. And movies as well won't be just something from your past, because there IS such a thing as babysitters. I don't know... I just don't like when people assume that having babies means that you give up your entire life. Yes, that child becomes your main focus. But you can still have a life & function like a normal person.

that one made me the MOST angry. lol. I'm not a bear - I can't just hybernate to prepare for LATER. People are stupid. They can tell me to REST and save up my energy - that I'm ok with. But to say to get sleep now cause i won't later is just idiocy.

I HATE these comments. People always say this in regards to the dog (especially my in-laws). If I'm out taking the dog for a walk or playing with her at the park they will always say well that will end soon. Oh you'll have to find her a new home soon. I HATE IT. She's a lab, a family dog, she's our first baby, she's not going anywhere, blah. I hate it!!!

UGH i know exactly what you mean about the dog. Someone told me the other day "just wait til the baby comes, you will be kicking those dogs to the side". My two dogs are part of this family - yes it will be an adjustment, but life is a constant adjustment!! Everyone will be fine and my dogs and my child will all get PLENTY of attention - I am determined to make sure of it!

Re: Know what comment I hate?
Just wait until the baby comes. . .
You will figure out how to clean the house in half the time it used to take you and it will be just as clean.
You will find the time to go out on dates with your husband but you will appreciate the alone time so much more.
Or, you will go on the most romantic dates with your husband with your baby by your side and you won't really mind so much!
You will fall into a new routine and still manage to get showered, hair done and makeup done -- and then your baby will smile when he sees your face and you will feel a million times more beautiful than ever before.
You will take your dog for more walks than ever because now you want to get the baby into the fresh air too! You will lay your baby on the floor and your dog will come over and bring some toys or a treat and hang out with you for hours.
You will sleep. You will appreciate cat naps more than the most amazing sex you ever had. You will realize that maybe you don't need to sleep until 2PM on Saturdays to feel rested, you will do just fine on 6 or 7 or 8 hours of sleep. Or, if you are lucky, your baby will sleep through the night and you will sleep right along with her.
Sorry for crashing, I just love this board and wish I could be back on it!

Re: Know what comment I hate?
Ah comments, I have learned so much so far from all the helpful people in my life:
I will never sleep again
I will have to "get over" having my house spotless b/c it will he a war zone.
My body will go to $hit and never come back
My husband and I will end up hating eachother
We wont ever have sex again
I will forget what it is like to be human most days
I won't have a clue on what day of the week it is
Every article of clothing I have will have baby spit up on it and I won't even notice or care
The moment I say twins, I swear people look at me with PITY, almost as if I announced I had cancer.
Its a BLESSING and something I prayed and beggedddddddddddGod for !!!!

These comments don't bother me.
They did when I was pregnant with my first, but no one says these things to you when you are pregnant with number 3-you already know if they are true or not-some of them are true ladies, I just won't tell you which ones, it's the kind of thing you have to learn for yourself anyway, no one can prepare you

Re: Know what comment I hate?
Anyone heard you are getting FAT??? Coming from a fat, ugly F*** like my cousin's husband (they are both obese by the way). Yes that's right. The last time he said it I told him that is so rude to say to someone. Especially a pregnant woman. I said it in front of my mother’s entire judgmental family. I heard nothing but silence.
