kinda very worried
this is my 1st post and I've been holding off on start posting while we were kinda seeing what happens and not full blown TTC'ing. I was afraid of getting too obsessed and not be able to enjoy the 1st year of marriage and the "seeing what happens" activities
we havent been careful for almost a year now, since the wedding and nothing has happened. we did start TTC a month ago and I am worried now than ever. dont u think something would have happened by now? I mean we havent been careful AT ALL this whole time and nothing.
now on top of me starting being worried about having problems my AF showed up a week early and this after a whole month of ovulation tests that didnt show even once that I was ovulating. but I may have been doing it wrong, I dont know. ye, I am totally freaked out by this whole TTCing thing LOL
I havent gone to see a Dr. yet cause I dont have one and the one I wanted to go to doesnt accept new patients.
ugh!
tnx for listening

Re: kinda very worried
I wouldn't start to worry and self diagnosis yourself yet Maybe you should spend a few months and start to understand your body and your cycles? Get more familiar with using the OPKs, or maybe try temping? Watch your CM and see if/when it starts to change. All the "fun" stuff we do each month

Re: kinda very worried
I'm sorry you are going through this.
It took us over 9 months with serious trying to get a BFP. It can take a while. Sometimes that is normal.
What makes you think you are doing the OPK's (ovulation predictor tests) wrong? Not getting a positive on an OPK would alarm or worry me as well. That's totally understandable.
I think that once you get to the point where you are questioning if something is wrong... that's just not going to go away until you are certain everything is fine. the only way to be certain is to see a dr who will test you for things. Otherwise each month you get a BFN, the same thoughts will arise. This is how it was for me at least. Then I decided not to waste anymore time and to just see an RE. I needed the peace of mind. If you want to go the getting tested route... I wouldn't bother with an OB... instead I'd see an RE. They are much more knowledgeable on the various issues and will test for a larger variety of things. I have found that a lot of OB's just brush this type of stuff off. I went to Dr Braverman. LOVED him. There are many others who also get rave reviews.
The bottom line is... you need to do what you think is comfortable here. If it's the RE route or not. If you want Dr B's info I'll gladly share it with you... and i'm sure the girls have many other wonderful RE's they could recommend as well.
Good Luck to you.

I just started using OPKs last month, and I am glad that I did because otherwise I would have been totally off, I didn't get my smiley until CD35 which was when I got AF the month before.
Most people say to not use FMU because the OPK's test the ovulation surge I usually test around 2pm and try to make sure that I haven't peed in the last 3-4 hours (might be harder if you drink a lot of water during the day). I use the digital OPK's because I have heard using the line tests can be difficult to interpret and I am an over analyzing freak, the less things I have to worry about the better You can get them pretty cheap on Amazon.
Hope this helps a bit.

I didn't keep my OPK's in the bathroom. I kept them in a linen closet just outside the bathroom I think. But I never thought of the humidity thing. I don't know if that would affect them or not to be honest. I would assume not.. but I really have no idea.
I tested with OPK's at night before I went to bed. You don't necessarily need to use FMU. For me personally I was using 2 different forms of OPK's. One was the standard digital one where you pee on a stick (though I'm a dipper .. pee in cup and dip the stick). And the other was the CBEFM (Clear Blue Easy Fertility Monitor). It's ummm an electronic unit along with OPK pee sticks. You would test with the stick and insert it into the unit and the unit gives you one of three readings. Low, High, or Peak. Low you are not ovulating. High.. you are going to ovulate soon - you could have a few days of high. And Peak - you are ovulating right now. Since the CBEFM needed FMU... i used the regular OPK's at night and they worked just fine. So don't worry about the FMU thing.
An RE is a reproductive endocrinologist. Their job is to get you pregnant or to figure out why you aren't getting pregnant. They will test you for many possible "situations" and they will know how to medicate or fix the issues so that you can get pregnant. They test your insulin levels, will test for (auto?)immune disorders, PCOS, blocked tubes, etc. I'm sure the girls could fill in more of the things they test for. It's extensive. They don't usually start with testing the guy.. they focus more on the girl first. Unless there's reason to suspect the guy is the issue, then his sperm will be tested earlier on. Usually after all the girl's test comes back normal they would then start testing the guy for things. But some RE's might just test the guy in the beginning for good measure. It all depends. Depending on the findings through all the testing they would come up with a "game plan" to get you pregnant. Sometimes it's an easy fix. RE's also do IUI's and IVF's.
RE's have some extra 3 yrs or so of schooling in the reproductive field. And they deal A LOT more with fertility issues than an OB.
OB's really take care of you when you are pregnant... they deliver the baby. they MIGHT test you for SOME things... but it's usually not as extensive or thorough as an RE's tests would be. AND it's usually harder to get an OB to test you for things. This is something I've personally observed and seen written on here. I'm sure you might find an OB somewhere you would test more than another would.
I didn't need a referral from an OB to see an RE either. I was able to just find one and go.
Dr Braverman has an office in the city. I have heard he was teaming up with another RE so I'm not sure what days or hours he is in the city.. but my first consult with him was in the city. He was seriously an amazing doctor. I absolutely loved him. he put me so much at ease that I actually got pregnant right after meeting with him and before all my tests were complete!!
I know he has a personal website but I can't find it. But I found this for you... click me Don't worry so much about the mc part of the info on that link, since that's not your issue. He tests you for things without mc's happening as well. I HIGHLY recommend him!! I am very picky about dr's too!!

Re: kinda very worried
PS - I think if you sign up with fertility friend it is.. they send you various emails with TONS of GREAT information. They go in lessons. They were VERY helpful to me in the beginning when I was first learning about all of this. They have lessons on OPK's and also CM... how to tell you are ovulating and all. I HIGHLY recommend signing up with them. They didn't send me a ton of junk email either... I just got the important fertility lesson ones. I can't remember if I got one a day or one a week.

Re: kinda very worried
DH and I started seeing an RE after we got married last year. We had been BD without protection for a year before the wedding, so we figured it was time to see a doc. We went with my OBGYN for about 4 months and then decided it was time to see an RE. The only reason we pushed to see a specialist is because I KNOW I have IF issues, cysts, endometriosis, etc. We felt that we were being more proactive. DH was prescribed a semen analysis, even though he already has a daughter, but he had her when he was 18 and is now 32.
I would not start worrying yet. Take this month to really evaluate your cycle, use the OPK’s, temping, and fertility friend is a great tool, like pp said.
Good luck!

Re: kinda very worried
Sometimes it just takes time. I would def. keep track of ovulation and even start maybe temping. If nothing happens within a few months of that , I woulc consult a doc.
DH and I tried to "wing it " for a yr, and nothing. We both have been through tests, and still nothing. We have now moved onto IUI, and we shall see
FM me with any questions
