Re: Kind of overwhelmed with new WW program
We must have been in the same meeting!!!!!! I wanted so bad to tell people to shut the hell up. People were already b*tching about the changes. I feel like people should at least give it a try. One women said(raised her hand and all) " I have been on WW for 7 years and I like the old way!!! Why are they changing? It has worked for me. I lost 28lbs since I started". Uhmmm hello 28lbs in 7 years... please try something new!
Did you buy any new stuff? I think I am going to wait until I see what e-tools and the free apps have to offer before I buy.

Re: Kind of overwhelmed with new WW program
I missed the first 15-20 mins of the meeting because we were on line waiting to get weighed (and we had even gotten there half an hour early!!). The leader wasn't too bad- she made everyone wait until the end to answer questions.
I just went to Stop & Shop and was there for so long trying to figure out all the new points!

I know you can't tell us every single detail, but what were the major changes? I might join again for a month online to try it out. My guess is that all their desserts are increasing in points. I did hear that fruits and most vegetables are free.

Points are calculated differently (based on: protein, carbs, fat, and fiber). The point values of most foods went up. (For example a sandwich thin used to be 1 pt, now its 3 pts). Fruits are 0 and most veggies are 0.
To calculate points you need to buy the points calculator (its on sale now for $5.95) or look it up in the book. There is no more slider thing.
The amount of points you get also increased. I get 29 pts per day (this is the most common amount).
Instead of 35 weekly points you get 49.

Re: Kind of overwhelmed with new WW program
Thanks for the info. Can I get the calculator online or is it only sold at the meetings?

Interesting. I was thinking about rejoining. Maybe I will like this change. I think I was too good a winging the old system since I had done it for so long. I just gave up on it.

I bought the calculator...Holy Crap people were grabbing the stuff off the shelves like their lives depended on it...it was so ODD! I am kind of ****** because I felt kind of forced to buy the calculator.
ETA...LOL about that woman in your meeting.

It's not a secret anymore. Ask any other questions you have. I am finding basically if something like a WW meal or dessert has a value already it's increasing by one atleast. It will be online tomorrow on etools.

Re: Kind of overwhelmed with new WW program
I also go on Sunday AMs and I can guarantee 1/2 of the people that were there today, will NOT be there next week. I think people just wanted a head start! It was PACKED! They even opened up a 3rd scale in the back of the room.
They said "You should buy this, this and that". I only bought the calculator.
I use e tools. There really (IMO) is NO need for a $35 kit with cookbooks and stuff if I can just get the recipes online!
I think I'll like it. The points on foods def. go up now, but, so do our Dailys and Weekly's.

Thank you :) I think I'll just buy the calculator online. I'm pretty disciplined and can follow it that way. Any idea on how to figure out how many daily points you can have?

Once e-tools gets updated tomorrow you will be able to calculate your new daily points or if you buy a new calculator it will calculate your points for you. There is no longer a paper quiz for you to take

Re: Kind of overwhelmed with new WW program
So I followed the new points system today. At first I thought I wouldn't like it but I honestly feel like I got to eat alot more than usual. I still have 3 pts left over for a snack too!

That sounds better than when I was on it...though I don't understand how fruits and veggies are 0 points...though they are lower in calorie than other foods they are still all sugars (yes natural I know..still sugar.) That will never make sense to me!

I agree with that. I think the purpose is to try and get people to eat more fruits and veggies. I'm going to stick with eating them at the best times- morning and post-workout.
In fact, I wish they would incorporate timing of certain foods into the plan as well.

Re: Kind of overwhelmed with new WW program
Today's meeting kind of aggravated me... I think the leader did an awful job and just did not seem prepared... whenever anyone asked a question, she kept talking in circles, never giving an answer instead of just saying, "I don't know" or "I'm not sure"
A lot of people also seemed to be really annoyed that there was no points slider or written formula to determine how many points you earn. People wanted to know how the points totaled were calculated. I think it kind of stinks that you have to pay for the calculator and that there is no free version. There were some really ****** off women who just purchased all new stuff within the past month-2 months and now all of their stuff is obsolete...
I am however excited for the new program to try something new and who can turn down free fruits?? I bought a new calculator and the package with the two new books (dining out and complete foods) because we used those all the time with the last program...

EXACT same thing happened to me! It was like black friday at that meeting today and they kept saying how the prices were going up for the stuff in January to create a frenzy and I mean frenzy!

What I think is bizarre is how they say they created this scientific formula to figure out our daily points BUT half probably more than half are at 29 I am at 29 some 20 something girl much thinner than me is at 29 and some lady in her 70s on 29

The lady sitting next to me was questioning that too!! I had 29 and she had 30... she was much larger than me and a bit older- the leader had no answer for us as to why it was so close... when on the old system I had 20 points and she had 24. Once I got home I figured out my mom's points and she was 29 as well...The new materials also did not seem to address maintenance points and when I asked the leader about this she had no clue what to tell me... she said to just eat the 29 points and see what happens I will not be going back to this woman's meetings... I'm sure all of the kinks will get ironed out sooner or later... I just miss my old leader who only has meetings during the school day

Re: Kind of overwhelmed with new WW program
The points are now based on age/weight, so for every birthday your points would change, thats why a woman in her 70's would be at 29 pts and then someone that is close to their goal would also be at 29 pts because they don't have any weight to lose (I hope that makes some sense). You can always go to another meeting/leader this week so you can hear the new information from someone else and maybe they would have the answers to the questions better.
I'm also shocked that the leader didn't know about maintenance because there is a booklet on maintenance that you can ask for that covers it on the new program

Re: Kind of overwhelmed with new WW program
Speaking of maitantence, I'm a lifetime member and the lady at the desk gave me the blue book (instead of the gold lifetime one). I went back to ask for the other one and she got all annoyed and threw it at me.
I had asked for the maitatence book but they never gave me to me. My leader said extra maitenance points are NOT calculated in the 29 I was given and to add 6 more. Does anyone know if this is accurate?

This is true Colleen. People on maintenance are to add 6 PP everyday to their daily PP target.
