Kill me now
I'm getting another one of those unbelievable headaches that landed me in the hospital two weeks ago... it's all starting the same way. It's so intense - it's indescribable.
I think I'm developing Migraines as an adult
Just what I really needed these days

Re: Kill me now
RUN, do no walk and get yourself a perscription of Imatrex and a dark room! Feel better
ETA: Perhaps now that you recognize the feeling taking something like Imatrex (I take Relpax which is an onset drug, I take it when I get the "feeling") will help in making the headache go away before it even starts.

Re: Kill me now
try to take a nap. thats what i always do. it will relax your muscles and when you wake up the migraine will be gone.
if that doesnt work, let me know what time you want to come and beat you over the head.

Intravenous meds and prescription ibuprofen (800mg). The only thing that worked was the IV, which I'm NOT doing again. I don't know what's causing it, I think I need to start a food journal, cut out my morning coffee, my attachment to chocolate, and any and all arguing with DH and my family

Have you been eating saltier foods lately?
you have alot on your plate, too, w/everything w/ your dad, etc... i'm sure that's the biggest part of it. I don't know that it would be the magic answer, but maybe some relaxation techniques... just to rest your mind... would help a bit, too.

Re: Kill me now
feel better!!
definitely start a food and weather journal! I know sodium nitrates set me off and a change in humidity only makes it worse.

I agree, if you cut it out cold turkey it could make the headaches worse. Definitely try making a food journal, and also think about whether something else in your environment or general stress could be causing it. Good luck!

Re: Kill me now
Migraine girl here. I used to use Imitrex, but now use Maltrex. Works miracles. Ask your dr for prescription. I don't find any side effects, just a little drowsy when I first take it. Headache gone in 20 mins. My dr. had no problem giving it to me.

Re: Kill me now
Another Migraine sufferer here...
I take Topamax 2x a day to prevent them and also have a script for Relpax in case one sneaks up.

Re: Kill me now
I hope you feel better. It took me a while to realize that polly-o string cheese was bringing on my migraines, weird I know. I never used a cold compress either until DH encouraged it on the back of my neck and it really does take so much of the edge off. Stay hydrated and drink lots of water. Hope you feel better!

Re: Kill me now
I had one last month (not nearly as bad). A dark room & it still didn't help...
Another thing to add to the food journal is your menstrual cycle. My sister swore it was a hormone thing.
She may be right.
I discounted it because I don't want to be one of those people that whine & tell everyone they're getting their period, how it's affecting them, etc.
Hope this is over quickly!

Re: Kill me now
Try some excedrin migraine and lay lay down w/ a cold compress. See if that helps. I agree that you should not give up coffee cold turkey...otherwise you will trigger a migraine. You can try to go off slowly, but I would get a good work-up from a neurologist and figger out what your triggers are. Stress triggers a lot of migraine sufferers, including myself. I saw in another post that you have a lot going on. Could it be possible that stress is causing it?

How are you feeling this morning?
MUCH better, thanks! I think the key is to attack it at the very first symptom - yesterday I started getting a halo around my eyes, and my vision started getting funky and I felt all this pressure around my head out of nowhere, so I immediately took one of the prescription Ibuprofen that my doc game me last time, and it went away, THANK GOD!
Thanks for all the tips - I'm going to start a journal, SLOWLY wean from coffee, and start exercising regularly. I'm sure it's stress - I'm positive it is - I have a tendency to internalize my stress. Weeks go by and I'll think to myself, wow, I'm handling these things SO well, but then the stress will start to manifest in physical ways - it was always with really awful stomach aches and lack of appetite. Now, unfortunately, in my 30's, I think it has switched over to Migraines. Lucky me.

Re: Kill me now
GO TO A NEUROLOGIST!
I have suffered from migraines for 10 years, and I finally hit my ENOUGH IS ENOUGH breaking point in January. I saw a neurologist who FINALLY pinpointed the cause of my headaches. I started physical therapy in February, and while I went to PT (from Feb-June) I was completely headach free. I stopped PT in the beginning of June, and I've had a constant headache since June 22nd. Guess I'm going back to therapy.
Anyway... don't suffer in silence... GO! I wish you NO HEADACHES!
