Kids Modeling
I'm the first one to roll my eyes at those stations at the mall and I never stop when someone asks to do a survey.
I don't know... maybe I was having a good day with DS or something, but when some cute, young girl (that looked like a model) stopped me and Mason at the mall over the weekend to tell me he's adorable and can model I stopped.... and filled out those papers only giving my cell phone info and nothing else.
I just got a VM from a guy about seeing Mason. Has anyone ever done this? I probably won't call back. May not be the best idea b/c, unless you have the perfect toddler that behaves ,I can't see it going too well. Yes, I think Mason is ADORABLE and could picture him on the cover of some kids catalog, but don't see myself being a show mom.
Oh, I did ask her if she stops all parents and she said only the cute ones. Of course as I was walking away they stopped another family...

Re: Kids Modeling
My DH is even worse. He actually contacted a well-known modeling agency and sent DD's pictures to them! I think/thought he was nuts, but they want to meet her next week. I truly want nothing to do with any of this and told him he could take her to the appointment. I agree, I can't see it going too well with my DD so good luck dad.

Re: Kids Modeling
My mom knows someone who did it through a mall kiosk and they lost a couple hundred dollars and nothing happened.

Re: Kids Modeling
I never stop at those things, but it's funny to watch them try to pull parents in. We were in the mall last weekend and DD was passed out in her stroller with the hood down (couldn't see anything but her feet) and a girl saw us and said "AWWWWWWWWWW SHE'S SO CUTE can you come over here??!" DH and I didn't even look her way, what a scam. Don't give any $$!

Re: Kids Modeling
The mall ones are scams.
I've heard of Product Model Mgmt, and they are a reputable agency. People have always suggested I try this with my younger DC. But it all seemed like too much work for my lazy azz

Which is exactly why I have no desire to call back... spend money on headshots or whatever BS they ask. LOL
I'd rather spend my money elsewhere... clothes for my boys to keep them looking like models, but not quit models.

Re: Kids Modeling
First of all.... they stop everyone with a small child. As much as we want to believe our DC are the most adorable kids on the planet and they only stop us because they must look "special"... they stop everyone.
They play the numbers game. There is a very high rate of people who will not even talk to them. The more people they stop to talk to, the greater the chance they are going to find that mom or dad that is going to listen.
From what I understand, child modeling is not easy and you can't have a FT job if you want to do it. You have to be ready to take a call the night before and bring your child to an audition the next day where you will likely spend hours. And apparently the pay is not that great either.
My disclaimer is that I have never done it so I'm sure there are some people who love it and do well with it. That's just my impression of the whole thing.

This!! I know you work FT. It's virtually impossible to do if you're working. There's been some real interest in my son modeling but unfortunately, since DH and I both work FT, it's not going to happen.

I have done it and you are correct.

Re: Kids Modeling
We get stopped every time we are in the mall. There was even a time that they didn't even look at DS and just continued about he would be perfect for modeling. I also know someone who lost a lot of money with the mall people. I think they talk a lot of BS and then get you to spend hundreds on a portfolio or something like that. I don't even stop for them anymore.
