KC has not been himself-final update

I still think it's the fact that we have new kittens. He hangs out at the water bowl but doesn't drink. He's a bit dehydrated and now he won't eat.

He has lost some weight and now I'm scared that the same thing will happen to him that happened to Max. We had to put Max down in January.

I told DH to feed the kittens and then put them in the bathroom. Then feed KC some wet food and see if he eats.

DH actually thinks since something similar is happening to KC that our vet is doing something to the cats!

I'm really worried. I don't think I could take another experience like that again. I'm not ready to lose him..

Should I give another vet a chance and bring him over to take a look?

I think the idea is far fetched but since it happened to one cat, we are fearful.

Update:

It seems that there is an 85% chance that KC has a pituitary tumor. His adrenal functions are messed up and he won't walk or eat. The doc is giving him a trio of meds that will hopefully help him..one being steroids..steroids long term will not be good though.

There is a surgery for this, but it's very rare and the recovery from it is very difficult. I don't think we will do surgery on him. Not if we don't know the possible outcome..it's very risky.

This type of tumor is usually found in dogs. It's unusual to find it in a cat.

We will give him the meds for a few days to see how he does. He will remain in the hospital for a few more days.

We are devastated. Unfortunately, in cats it's hard to tell they are sick until it's pretty advanced. So although it's not 100% confirmed, it looks like our KC has cancer. The only hope is that our kitty will respond to the meds and we can keep him happy and pain free for a while. He's not in pain now, and if he can come home and be KC then I will be happy.

KC passed away today. The cancer was too strong and he couldn't fight it.

Not fair..I lost two kitties in one year. I didn't even get to say goodbye to him.

RIP my sweet kitty. You had a good but too short kitty life. We love you.

KC ate some wet food but is still not himself.

I think we'll take him to his regular vet. Maybe he has a uti or something..male cats can get those or urinary issues in general.

Poor baby..he looks so sad.

when pokey had an UTI- he was running back and forth to the litter box

but nothing was happening

he was also peeing little spots on the floor

He's at the vet now. They are going to do a big blood work up, e-rays and IV fluids. He will stay overnight.

Poor Kitty. I hope this is not the beginning of the end.

He's 12 1/2 but this is how it started with Max. Maybe we caught whatever it is early enough.

I'm so worried.

KC's blood work was a mess. His kindey, liver and electrolite numbers were all off. The doc has him on IV fluids, IV antibiotics, steroids and his thyroid medication. He will stay there for the rest of the weekend.

He will have another series of tests done on his adrenal system and possibly a belly sono since he's distended.
His a very sick kitty.

I've been crying on and off all day. We are so distraught.

Doc says we are only at the beginning of knowing what's going on.

Please pray that it's something they find quickly and can get him well.

I miss him so much. The kittens go in tomorrow for their spaying/neutering. DH will take them and see KC tomorrow.

I will have all 3 of my cats at the vet tomorrow. This is nuts!

Please pray KC makes it through. I can't stand the thought of losing another kitty so soon. Max passed in January.
