Just starting to "pop" - where do I shop?

So I am 12 weeks and began showing this week! Friends at work commented on it today. I went and looked at "maternity" clothing store, but the clothing was still huge around the stomach. I have a little bump but not big enough for maternity clothing. Can anyone recommend a store that sells clothes for moms just starting to show? Or where did you start to shop when you first started to show? Thanks so much! Chat Icon

I started at Old Navy and got the maternity jeans with just the small strip of adjustable waist. I didn't need the full panel until I was about 20 weeks and found that they didn't fit until around then.

There are so many non maternity clothing you can wear even when you "pop". I'm 28 weeks and I'm still in only non maternity. Consider tops, tunics and dresses with an empire waist...I practically live in them when going out. You can buy a belly band, which was definitely a great investment (I bought mine on ebay) it will extend the life (and waistband lol) of wearing your non maternity jeans. As far as non maternity athletic wear, Juicy Couture velour or terry pants have a very low rise that they're extremely comfortable and Solo leggings are a godsend because you can fold them down as far as need be. I've been to so many maternity stores and hate so much of it that I've been trying my hardest to find regular clothes that are either empire waist or low rise, otherwise I'm going to waste all this money on clothing I'm only going to wear for 5-6 months Chat Icon

I started at motherhood. The clothes are cheaply made, but I was excited to wear them. I'm trying not to buy a ton and have already borrowed from friends as well.

Last time I got a lot of stuff at Old Navy that I continued to wear when I was no longer pregnant, but still couldn't fit into my regular clothes.

I'd say that's def a good place to start! Chat Icon Also, like others have said, you could always go with non maternity styles that are either low waist .. or loose around the belly.

I got some cute stuff at Ann Taylor Loft for that reason (regular, not maternity)

ETA: Also, get a belly band. You could wear your jeans unbuttoned with it.

I tried to find stuff that didnt look maternity and got a lot of stuff at Gap Maternity and also at pea in the pod. I have the bellyband but it was constantly riding up and then I found myself walking around with my fly open Chat Icon

I really liked using the belly band until recently. I was able to wear my regular pants up until last week at 22 weeks.

I purchased most tops through Pea in the Pod at Destination Maternity.

The dressy maternity tops are hard at this point because they will look like a tent on you for a little while. But right away I bought some maternity tank tops - they don't pouf out or anything, just nice soft stretchy material. I'm 23 wks and still wearing a lot of my regular clothes, but with a tank underneath. I invested in 2 great pairs of maternity jeans right off the bat (skinny and boot-cut) with the full belly panel. They are all I wear! I also need the tanks because they are nice and long and if your shirt is a little on the shorter side you can see the belly panel fro the jeans. I've shopped at H&M, DM, DM @ Macy's, and Target.

I just bought a lot of loose clothing at first. Cheap stuff..from Old Navy, Forever 21, etc. Not maternity clothes, but they did the job!
