Just read Water for Elephants (possible spoiler alert!)
I loved it! After reading some previous posts though, a "surprise ending" is mentioned. Which part was supposed to be a surprise? Who actually killed August (NOT a spoiler - this is the first part of the book!  ) or the very end of when he was 93 (or 90  ) and how the book actually ends?
I really enjoyed reading the book and can totally understand how and why they made it into a movie. I can't wait to see it!

Wait...did I miss something? The Elephant killed August right? I thought maybe the surprise was that he married Marlena.

Yes, Rosie killed August. It is just that in the prologue, it is sort of inferred that Marlena killed him.
