Just got back from doctor

they think I have a Kidney infection, or have kidney stones... if anyone has had one of these.. can you please describe the pain you had and where b/c its my lower right back by my kidney and it goes to my stomach...right side as well.. I just want to make sure its the right thing!!

I had kidney stones about a year ago. The largest one caused me severe pain on the upper lefthand side of my stomach (near the rib area). The pain was so bad, I was vomiting from it.

I had kidney stones years ago. The pain was also on my upper right side. It was such a sharp pain that I too was vomiting from it and didn't even want to get up and walk.

I havent had kidnet stones but have had sever UTI's/Bladder infection to the point I spent nights in the ER...

I had kidney stones in December.

Mine were in my left kidney, so the pain was in my lower, left back. It was worse than labor. I didn't puke, but sure wanted to.

I've never been one to call for help, but I couldn't lift my DD because of the pain, so I had no choice. My DH & family finally talked me into going to the ER.

I told the ER doctor that I thought I had a kidney infection, she decided to send me for a CT anyway and that's when they discovered my stones. Two days later I had them blasted.



Hope they figure it out soon! Feel better!!!


BTW, did they do a CT scan? Or just bloodwork & urinalysis?

Ugh I had them back in 89 and it was 100% worse than giving vaginal labor!!!!!

Apparently I had a UTI that I was unaware of, had no symptoms, I was on antiobiotics for almost a year due to my throat and then had my tonsils removed about 3 months before the stones came.
I had SEVERE pain on both sides of my lower back. For days in fact, I didnt know what was going on, I remember popping advil like crazy. what finally made me go to the ER was when I pee'd there was blood what looked like lil pebbles with blood. sure enough I had passed them at home, and it HURT like HELL. sorry dont mean to scare you.

I've had them. The pain you are having goes with the diagnosis. My aunt has had them also. She has given birth 4 times, had her appendix removed and gone through a massectomy and chemo and she swears kidney stone pain is the worse.

So far the pain is not sooo SEVERE... but I hope that its just an infection and it goes away but it does hurt

I had a kidney infection last year at this time (right after giving birth to my daughter). I ended up severely dehydrated, with super low blood pressure, and with very sharp shooting pains in my left back, right under where my ribs were.

I ended up in the hospital for a week!!

I had an infected and enlarged kidney. And I also have a 5mm stone in my kidney, but it was NOT the cause of the infection, so it was left alone and I still have it, with no problems *knock on wood*

I had what they called a UPJ Obstruction. It was an obstruction where the kidney drains to the ureter. Well, it wasn't draining and it was backing up in my kidney. I had a small operation to blast away the obstruction and the doc inserted a stent. I had the stent in for 6 weeks and then it was removed.

ETA: I was on a super-mega dose of Levaquin (antiobiotic) for a month!!

So far so good. I do have to see my urologist again in June for another check-up and then I will more than likely have to go once a year.

Did they give you any painkillers? My DH had kidney stones, he described it the same way you did.

It started at night & he wsa going to go to the Dr. in the am, but it got so bad he woke me up to go to the ER.

The pain killers helped a lot & then the stones passed in about 3-4 days.



ETA- are they doing further tests? a CT will show stones & I think bloodwork will show if you have an infection.
