Just curious- How often....

How often do you speak to your friends and who initiates the phone call?

Depends on the friend.

My closest female friend and I speak every day by phone. It's kind of random who calls who - whoever has something to say. Or whoever thinks to check in first I guess. I also see her 3-5 times a week.

My closest male friend and I speak 3-5 times a week on the phone. I see him 3-5 times a month.

Outside of that, I usually hear from the local friends by phone 1 or 2 times a week. Usually just to check in and see what's going on during the weekend or to shore up plans if we have any.

My friends who no longer live close by usually e-mail instead of call. Calls are generally reserved for important dates (birthdays, anniversaries, etc..) and important news (I'm PREGNANT!).

I speak to my sisters almost every day and when my mother was alive we spoke on the phone and saw each other every day.

As to work 'friends' - I don't think I ever speak to them on the phone - unless I am calling work!!! I also rarely see them outside of work.

I speak to my BFF daily. Calling is 50/50. My other close friends are a couple of times a weeik.

When we were in college we used to speak almost every day...now that everyone is working and since I had DS the phone calls are sometimes only 1x a week sometimes once every 2 weeks. My BF and I actually only speak a few times a month...might sound strange but we dont need to talk every day and we understand the other is extremely busy.

I used to be a big phone person but since I had DS I'm not...I just dont have the time to "chit-chat".

I am unsure of this "phone" you speak of, but I usually speak to my best friend throughout the day (at work) via email or instant message. Otherwise, she'll usually call me on this "phone" and arrange a time/place for us to see each other in person....

It varies. I have a few good friends out of state and we keep in touch via IM and email a lot. Multiple times a week, if not every day.

I don't have the kind of friends who want (or need) to talk every week. We usually get together sporadically, talk on the phone sporadically.

I realized recently that I am REALLY bad at picking up the phone. Terrible. And I have no idea why. When I have free time, it just doesn't occur to me to pick up the phone and call someone.

Hanging up is also a problem. I have some kind of issue with ending conversations. Whether it be by IM or phone. I'm never the person to say "Ok, I have to go now." So I tend to have really long conversations.

However, I looooove getting together in person. I think that's the real meat of a relationship. When you can get a tone of voice, gesture, let the conversation go off on a tangent somewhere. That's the good stuff.

We mostly talk via email. We almost never call each other - we're just too busy to sit and chit chat at night. We always manage to get together and yak up a storm, so I think we're doing ok.

I speak to 2 friends every other week or so. It's usually pretty evenly split about who calls who.

Two more are on IM, so it's when we have a free minute.

My sister, I email daily. Brother likes text messaging, which I hate. So I email him, and he sends me text messages in return.

I have one friend I speak to 5 times/week. Usually during work. I have some friends I mostly speak to on IM. I have some friends that I speak to on IM and phone, and some out of state friends that I speak to on the phone usually about once a week. It's usually about 50/50 with who calls who.

It depends. I have friends that I am in contact daily on email & it is the easiest way to get in touch with them. All of my friends have different schedules then me, so we find it a lot easier to be in touch via the internet.

My BFF is OOT & I talk to her mostly via email as we both are on it daily at work. We do call each other once in awhile but it gets hard with the time difference.

Im generally just not a phone person at all. I am not the type of person that will stay on the phone & bs for hours. So with that said, I'm usually not the one that initiates the phone calls. I stay in touch with my friends mostly by e-mail and in person (especially on the weekends)

via email/internet: i speak to my BF almost every day. it's initiated on both sides. probably me more than her but she always responds and it doesn't bother me. all my other friends, maybe once a week.

phone: very rarely. it's hard b/c we all have such different schedules so we really only chat on the phone to finalize plans to get together. i'm not a phone person anyway. i would rather see you in person.
