Just 2 more days
Iggy's going on tuesday to get neutered!!! It's crazy because I made the appointment about 2 weeks ago and this week he decides he wants to mark MY WHOLE HOUSE . He never did this before. It's like he knows, so he wants to get it all out now, lol.
He's driving me nuts. We used to only crate him at bedtime. Now we crate much more often. He's so good when we're watching him and in the room with him, but as soon as I leave the room or I turn my head, he's up to no good. I could never catch him to correct him Well, I actually did catch him once. I let him out of his crate and he ran across the room to go mark the wall by the bathroom.
DH and I are pulling our hair out!!!
I really hope this behavior changes after he's neutered. He's soo good otherwise. I'm scared, but at the same time I'm looking forward to tuesday when he's neutered.

Re: Just 2 more days
It should change, make sure you stop him now. Crate him more if you have to, so he doesn't start any habits. Buy a cleaner to take away the scent. Block the areas with something if you can for now as well. It's just a habit that you don't want to start otherwise it will have to be broken.
I was worried to do the surgery but it was the best thing we did.

Re: Just 2 more days
Thanks guys. I feel so bad locking him up so much.
I try to give him extra attention when he's out, I guess to make up for it. I took him outside to play for a while this morning and we're taking him to the dog park and then to my parents' house later.

what kind of cleaner do you recommend? I purchased something, but it doesn't seem to work. (cleaned the area, then sprayed it)

I understand what you are saying.
We were getting our girl doggie spayed, when she went into heat unexpectedly, which then we had to postpone her surgery.
Well SHE started humping our BOY dog who has NEVER humped!! I mean, she was harassing him! We panicked, like you, and did not want her to create a habit. So we started to crate them again when we were not home to watch them and keep her off of him, for those 2 mths until her surgery was scheduled. We didn't want her to start a humping habit on our boy while we were out.
If we were home, we would yell NO! and she would cringe and stop harassing him. We also didn't want him to learn what humping was, since he was fixed and never did it. So I do understand...don't feel bad, it's just temporary.
Once my girl was fixed, her humping stopped once the hormones died down. So the trick really is to don't let him make a habit of it, so that once the hormones are gone, there will be no other reason for the urge (hopefully).

I used to use Nature's Miracle (sold in Petco) when my dogs were being trained and had accidents in the house. My dog never marked though, so I don't have actual experience with that. Do you have carpet or wood or tile floors?
