He's 5'7".... he's not THAT short...  
That's not 40 lbs.... As a guy who's gained about 40 lbs since college (and roughly the same height), that's not a 40lb difference.

I agree with the PPs, that's a lot more than 40 lbs. I say good for him, he doesn't look sickly skinny and he obviously knows that losing the weight was healthy for him.
