Re: Joint versus separate accounts?
We have such a hard time with this, Everything now is sort of seperate since we both had individual accounts before we got married almost 2 years ago. He pays the mortgage, his car, water, oil, and all his credit cards and student loans. I pay the electric, my car and my credit cards. I pay for most of the groceries and we spend whatever we want from our paychecks. It seems to work, but sometimes it seems like he pays so much more and i feel bad.
Our investements, 401K, retirement, mutual funds all come directly out of our pay checks. I think when you get married after you are settled in a career it is difficult to give up your seperate accounts.

Re: Joint versus separate accounts?
I voted other- DH doesn't use his account anymore- but we haven't added him to mine- which we use for everything
I am the one that does the bills and banking- he cashes his check- and brings it home to me- and I take care of the rest
it works for us- I am surprising better with money (actually I am cheap- people always want to borrow money from him and he has a hard time saying NO if it's in his pocket)

Re: Joint versus separate accounts?
We have joint checking and savings accounts. However, only after we got engaged. Before that they were seperate. We haven't had any problems yet.
