John McCain passed away

I just read that he was stopping treatments, but I didn't realize he was so close to dying.

So sad. I am surprised how quickly he passed after only reading yesterday that he stopped treatments.

This makes me sad. Although I did not agree with a lot of his policies, he really challenged Congress in the past few years. It kind of gives me little hope for Congress in the next few years.
Obama and W will be giving eulogies. Apparently, he didn’t want Trump at his funeral. I wonder how that will work out.

I don’t blame him. Trump is a disgrace to this country and he’d turn it into a rally for his base. McCain earned the right to be memorialized as a hero, not a political platform.

I don't blame him one bit. The way in which he has talked about McCain in the past few years he doesn't deserve to give a eulogy. McCain is a true American hero and he should be honored as one. I follow his daughter Meghan and her statement after his death was so moving and broke my heart. I didn't agree with him politically always but I respected him tremendously. Prayers for his family.

My heart broke when I saw this on the news. He was a true American Hero and I have tremendous respect for him. RIP.

Yes, I keep reading that for Senators they lower the day they pass until the next evening or something like that. So they put it back up today...did they lower it again? I feel like in this case he was way more than just a Senator...so it should be lowered for longer, until after the burial??
