Re: job wwyd
I would stay at my current job. Yes, the commute sucks. But, the vacation time is great & no weekends. The weekends would be a deal breaker for me.

Re: job wwyd
I would probably stick with the current job. the only negative thing I am seeing is the commute.
will the new job have flexibility?
Also sounds like you will be working a lot more for the new job for the same amount of pay, and less vacation days.

Your current job seems (to me) to be the better position. You aren't saving any time with the closer commute since you'll be working that time (thus, it's a pay cut if you are getting the same salary with extra hours). Also, you will be losing 3 weeks vacation, 1 week sick pay and your pension.
What is drawing you to this new position, since the old one (IMHO) seems to be so much better?

I change my mind. I think you should stay but the new job is tempting bc of the very short commute.

If you work in the vacation time and your schedule I would stay at the current job.

Re: job wwyd
I would stay put. 7 weeks of paid time off and a pension in addition to a 401K is awesome. The commute really is the only thing that would sway me in the other direction.

Re: job wwyd
Stay put. The commute is the only negative to your current position, but to be honest your hours are so desirable that the commute doesn't seem like a big deal. 10 to 4:30? That's perfection if you ask me. Couple that with your vacation and sick time, flexible schedule, same salary, and the fact that you already have the longevity with the company, it's really a no-brainer. And considering you just got a promotion, it sounds like you're a valued employee at your current job.

Exactly. I would not consider a change for the same salary.

I would stay. i would want the flexibility. I know the commute sucks, but with the new job you are working more hours, and would be getting home around the same time, with less flexibility, and less time off as well.

I would stay. The vacation and sick time alone are a huge deal since you are the one who takes days off when the kids are sick. I know a long commute sucks I commute 2 hours each way and it is awful but I could never leave my current job for something comparable in salary and less benefits.

Re: job wwyd
It must be a very hard decision. I had a very long commute for 7+ years- drove most of them, it was an hour plus. Then I had to begin taking the train which added another 30 minutes each way.
I work locally now and am in a new field but I am 10 minutes from home which has been life-changing. Good luck to you!

Re: job wwyd
I was all set to say job #2, until I got to the weekends part.
The vacation is also short-does it increase with tenure?
It doesn't seem like this job would offer the flexibility you need with the kids, but maybe some aspects of it are negotiable?
Maybe you should stay put for now, but keep looking?

Re: job wwyd
Being that yiu have kids you need to be flexible for I would say currently job.
1. Pension companies are hard to find. 2. I just switched to a company with less pto days but my hubby has alot, works nearby and has flexibility. My toddler was just booted twice this week. If I were the only one available to pick up that would start the new job off bad.
