its really sad - there's nothing out there 
Rich has been looking since April...he has 100+ resumes out there, and I've contacted all the private & catholic schools on LI.
I'm prayyyyinng for a job for him, so we can afford this wedding

I know, my brother has sent out many many resumes, he's getting so down... He is dually certified too, special ed and elementary, but it's hard!!!
Cross your fingers for all of the teachers out there who are looking for a job!!!

We should start a forum for Teachers Helping Teachers. Really the best way to get your foot in in LI school districts is by knowing someone. At least to get yourself an interview. We had quite a few openings in my building this past spring. Wish I could have helped.
Definitely check nytimes.com and The Week In Review each week. Also check www.olasjobs.org frequently.

Sachem is always looking for Subs. Our Perm subs start Oct 1st. For that you are better off sending your resume staright to the principal but make sure in Sachem that you apply for postions ONLINE through our webppage.

My principal told me that our new Super will not look at any resumes that don't come in online. Be safe, apply online first and then send your hardcopy along with a not erthat you also applied online. From what I hear many school districtsa are accepting online applications with your resume.

Good luck! I know what you are going through! It's not easy. I am going on my 5th year teaching experience, and I have been bounced around from one leave to another, and even back to subbing. I am fortunate that I got a position @ a catholic school for Sept. and it's finally for a full year! =) (Although, my eyes are still open for a public school position.) Good luck again!
