Jewish Moms of Girls...

How old was your DD when you had a baby naming-- if you did of course.

And how big was it?

If certain people had their way... this would probably be a large event.

I had about 60-70 people in a country club and she was born in November and it was in Feb.

this is what we did because my family is so supersticious...

I absolutley did not want to do something when she was born because it was February and I didn't want her out in a place there were tons of people. Also, I didn't want to do it in an orthodox temple which we would have had to do since my BIL and SIL are orthodox and will not go to a conservative temple, and they do not travel on Shabbos. SO.. DH went to my BILs temple the Monday after Samantha was born when the Torah was taken out and she was officially named then. I was not there, nor was Samantha.

We are going to host a Kiddush/Brunch at my IL's temple in April right after Passover and that's when we will introduce her hebrew name (although our parents do know now what it is, especially since she is named after DH's grandmother and her sister). We are hoping to keep it somewhat small, but I'm sure it won't be.

We did it about 6 weeks after DD was born. We couldn't decide what to do. Every time we sat down to make a list it was like a Bat Mitzvah. So we decided just immediate family and a few very close friends. We booked it on a th, had it on sat. It was easy - no fuss and not expensive.

There is nothing wrong with doing something big either...it's just a matter of what YOU want.

We didn't do anything We're little rebels though - after all, we didn't even have a rabbi, or even an officiant for that matter, at our wedding

DD was about 5 months old - we waited till the weather was a little warmer (March). We had it in a temple and had about 50 people or so. Bagels, hot foods like french toast....

DD was 7 months (because that was when I finally got my act together to plan it). We just did brunch with immediate family at my mom's house. Rabbi came to us.
