If you do give money, the # 18 is good luck .... so you could add $18 onto whatever amount you planned to give, or give amount in a multiple of $18.

Either! We typically do not have a shower so any gift you would have bought for the shower, you could bring to a bris. If the mother did have a shower, a token gift would be acceptable.

My new bf the Reverend is trying to convert me but I think a check or cash is the way to go. 18 = Chai which is hebrew for "life" and it is supposed to be good luck. If I messed up the definition my grandma just rolled in her grave and the Rev. won.

You can really do either. Since Jews traditionally don't have baby showers, you can give a gift. They probably still need a lot. Check to see if they registered. Money is also perfectly acceptable.
