Re: Jewish baby naming gift
Mazel tov What about a mezuzah for her room or a menorah? I like things that she could "grow" with and have forever.

Re: Jewish baby naming gift
Its not my taste but its cute. I think a plain gold or silver one might get more use - you don't know the personality of the child yet.
I like a mezuzah idea. Maybe a charity box (tzukah). You can start her off with a few coins. I bought one for a bar mitzvah I went to.
If you can't find a gift and decide to give $$, its customary to give in multiples of 18.

Re: Jewish baby naming gift
A mezuzah can go on any room in the house and not just the front door, so having one already is not really an issue. A lot of people do not own one for every room but would use them if they had them. We received one for the baby's room.
My absolute favorite Jewish Star jewelry is either from David Yurman or Kenny Goodman (www.kennygoodman.com). Tiffany has some, too!

We have a mezzuzah on every doorframe in our home except the bathroom. I LOVE giving them as gifts. I wouldn't let Abby sleep in her room unless hers was up - but thats my own mishigas.

We did as well growing up.
I am going to check out kennygoodman.com. Is anyone familiar with chai mazel in commack? Do you think it might be worth the trip?
If anyone sees a nice jewish star on one of the site...post.
