Jedi Class at Hollywood Studios?
DD is obsessed with Star Wars and saw the commercial for the "Jedi Class" on Disney Jr (I hate those damn commercials!) and of course wants to do it.
Has anyone done it? Worth it?
The website says you sign up the day of in Hollywood Studios--how freakin' early do I need to get there to get on line before the park opens to sign her up?

Jedi Class at Hollywood Studios?
my son who is 5 did is last summer and LOVED it!!!
we got there maybe 8:40 when the park opened at 9. there is a staff person with a sign for Jedi Training sign ups. so we got in that line and then when the park opened, he led us all over to where they sign up. they'll tell you what times they still have available and you pick one-then you go back at that time to check in, they give the kids their robes and lightsabers, etc 
if you have Memory maker, they'll take TONS of pictures for you.... its really cute.
so, yeah we didn't get there all that early... BUT we were there the week right before labor day, thats one of the slowest weeks of the year there... so i guess it depends on when you're going...

Thank you. About how many kids are in each session and when you say "spots left" is there ANY way to sign up other than that day in the park?
Also, can I just go and sign her up and go back to the hotel and get her and DH for the day or do they need her magic band or something? She's NOT a morning person LOL.

My boys just did the jedi training last month.
We got there exactly at rope drop (8:40). We approached the park just as they let people in. Did not arrive earlier than that to actually be waiting in line before they let people in.
I want to say we got to the line to sign up at approximately 8:50. There were probably about 40-50 people in line already! After waiting about 30 minutes, we were able to get a 12:20 time slot. I want to say it was the only spot that was available. All the other slots were taken already? It was kind of nuts how crazy that line got so fast. This was during peak time in March and on a Saturday though.
They had 3 or 4 people doing sign ups.
I would recommend getting there slightly before rope drop. You may want one parent to run to the line to get a place. I wish we had done that. We were pushing a double stroller. Did not get there before rope drop. We stumbled slightly because the sign up place changed from the last time we went. Those 5 minutes made a big difference. lol
The last time we went, we were not planning to sign up but casually passed by at probably 9ish and the line was so long and overwhelming that I did not get in the line. Plus my kids were too young back then.

i want to say theres like 24 kids in each time slot?? when we did it, 12 kids went up on the stage to "fight" Darth Vader, and another 12 were down in front of the stage "fighting" Darth Maul. not sure how they divided it up...
i think they do need to see the kid when you sign up- i know they asked my son a couple questions like " how old are you?" "are you ready to be a good listener and follow the rules so you can become a jedi?" but he was only 4, which is the minimum age to do it... so maybe they were just being careful?

heres a pic to give you an idea how its set up.... darth vader is up on the stage, and darth maul is down in front- so 2 kids are doing it at once....

Jedi Class at Hollywood Studios?
how old is she? I have been watching youtubes of it the past few days trying to decide if we will do it. It seems like ALOT of standing around and listening. I am not sure if my kids would really enjoy it?

yeah.... my husband found it (he ran ahead with DS, while i went through the bag check with our backpack LOL
it was off to the left, like by Hollywood and Vine restaurant. a CM with a sign for Jedi Training sign ups. not sure if it changed since august though...

We were there in March. We had an 8:10 dining reservation and checked in all the way on the left side. At the turnstile near us, people were there for Jedi training. They were being let in and some were running after they got in. This was about an hour before park opening. I would look for info on a Disney site to see how it works and how early you can get in.

Thanks for all the info. Maybe I will do a breakfast in the park early the day we go and then run over to sign her up. She's already talking about it.
She will be 5.5 when we go and she will be so enthralled with "being a Jedi" that I am sure whatever instructions/waiting will be fine.
But seriously, those damn commercials! We have been to Disney 2x already and she didn't even know the AK existed until she saw it on Disney Jr...so I told her it JUST opened!

My kids have been hooked on those commercials too - every time they come on they stop what they are doing.

We're planning to do it when we go in August...we have an 8:05 breakfast reservation on a day the park opens at 9...my two older girls will definitely want to do it!
