Japanese Maple Tree Question
Does anyone know why this kind of tree would start to turn a greenish color? When the leaves first start to come in they are the great Japanese Maple reddish color. Now they are starting to turn green. Not the whole leaf, but it's the whole tree. Could it be the soil?

Re: Japanese Maple Tree Question
My Japanese maple does the same thing. But then it changes again as the seasons change. But it is still growing fantastic, so i think it is still a healthy tree.

Re: Japanese Maple Tree Question
I have 3 Japanese maple tree's and all three are different colors.
The one in the front is green under the leaf and the edges and the middle of the top has a red tint to it.
One by the pool is bright red leaves and the other by the pool is dark red/orangey.

Re: Japanese Maple Tree Question
wow, that is so weird. I don't remember the tree ever doing this before. Maybe it's the more mature trees that do this, because my neighbor has a smaller one (not dwarf) and it's that really dark deep red purple color that I love. Oh well. I'm just glad it is normal. Thanks everyone!

Re: Japanese Maple Tree Question
Thanks so much for posting this. My dwarf maple is half green and half red and I got nervous when I saw it this afternoon! I'm glad to hear it's normal.
