IVF Question
Does insurance cover IVF? Do you pay up-front and get re-imbursed?
TIA Edited to add: I am not a regular poster on this board, I am helping a friend research her options.
Thanks again!

Re: IVF Question
Some people have IVF coverage, others don't. Best advise is for your friend to call her insurance company and find out what they cover.

Re: IVF Question
It depends. My insurance covers it 100% but, that is not the case for everyone. There are a lot of people that have to pay out of pocket.
Since my insurance pays, it is just like a regular doctors visit. They bill the insurance company. You don't pay up front.

Re: IVF Question
IVF insurance coverage varies tremendously from nothing covered to partial coverage to complete coverage. In cases of no IVF coverage, some clinics offer the NYS grant.

Re: IVF Question
when I first started, my insurance covered IVF upto 10K lifetime and I had to pay a $30 copay everytime I went (which unfortunately is QUITE often). Then DH got a job working for the county and now my IVF is covered 100% and because of the RE I use, there is no out of pocket expense at all (no copays) However this is the exception and not the rule. Many on these boards have to pay out of pocket for IVF because insurance companies $uck

Re: IVF Question
Something else to think about. I don't have IVF coverage but my meds were covered under my pharmacy plan. That saves lots of money if you can get that covered. Its something that needs to get put through and pre-approved, but it was approved.
Good luck helping your friend.

Re: IVF Question
To give you a perspective from the other end of the spectrum, NOTHING is covered for me whatsoever. So, it really depends on the individual companies insurance.

Same here. My insurance covers nothing.

I have 100% coverage up to 50K lifetime and I have the Empire Plan for NY state employees.
