IVF and high impact excrcise

Hi Girls,
I had my IVF Orientation today which took about 3 hours. It was definitely packed with lots of information.
According to the clinic I go to, the REs there don't recommend any high impact exercise during the IVF protocol. I am a daily runner - not very far, just about 1 mile a day and elliptical every other day. I do kickboxing once a week. If I have to give up all that, what else can I do other than Yoga?

BY the way, all those needles and demo on how to use these needles are REALLLLLLLY scaring me Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I don't do well with needles! I kept on thinking to myself "anything for my own baby".

They say when you start stimming you should only do low impact work outs. You really wont want to do lots of jumping and stretching while your follies start growing. You do feel pressure down there so I would take it easy. And don't get scared with all the needles. It can be very overwhelming in the beginning but you do get the hang of it. I remember my first night I forgot everything the nurses showed me. But if you go on youtube and do an IVF search they demo practically all the shots!!!Good luck!!!!

Re: IVF and high impact excrcise

Honestly, I would stop it all. Some light walking is all I would do. I was training for a marathon when I did my IVF cycle. I stopped everything from the moment I started stimming and didn't start running again until my RE released me to my OB. It's such a short time and you will not want to look back and think what if?

ETS: I would not do yoga either- the issue with exercise is it can cause your ovaries to twist and result in OHSS and your cycle canceled. So yoga would not be recommended.

I've read papers that have linked excercise with miscarriage. It's just not worth the risk.

I would follow Dr's orders and would really not do any exercise at all. In the greater scheme of things, when you think about everything you are doing to make this happen, cutting out exercise for a couple of weeks is a small sacrifice.

Oh wow! Thanks ladies for the advice! I definitely would not mind sacrificing the workout. I waited my whole life for this chance to be pregnant and I definitely don't want to negtively affect my protocol!
