Re: I've got a Wednesday Night Debatable Topic for You!!
what exactly, is "unethical" about it?
is it silly? yes. could it be considered "immoral", eh, perhaps...but the "ethics" part I just don't see.

I'm not really seeing why what she did was unethical. Not something I would do but I wouldn't judge her by saying she was unethical and immoral.
I wonder if this would be an issue if she were a he...

Re: I've got a Wednesday Night Debatable Topic for You!!
Not sure if i would hire her as my lawyer, but why shouldnt she be admitted to the bar? Honestly i think going through years of law school and actually passing the bar is enough effort shown to "want" to be a lawyer! so my answer is yes! admitt her!

Re: I've got a Wednesday Night Debatable Topic for You!!
As far as the White Supremest is concerned, I think that a pattern of pre-disposition to be biased is grounds for not admitting him into the bar given the nature of his job. Would he defend a person of color, and if forced to would he do so with his full facilities? Probably no.
As far as this case, I think maybe rather than just the posing (which BTW I see nothing wrong with) maybe it was how she made herself a public spectacle by advertising it all over campus among her peers, as well as to the general public on myspace.com. If the members of the Bar Association knew these details I could see how that might affect their decision. If they are simply claiming that posing nude is unethical, then I think that statement is way off. Poor judgement? Maybe, but unethical is not the proper label for her actions. No one was hurt but her, and ethics involve the greater good.....

Re: I've got a Wednesday Night Debatable Topic for You!!
I just wanted to add that someone I went to law school with posed nude in Playboy prior to law school. She was admitted to the bar without any problems. I also know of people who did far worse and were admitted to the bar.
As for my opinion, I do not think her posing nude should prevent her from being admitted. Do I think it is stupid? Absolutely. I think that it will likely hurt her reputation as lawyer. However, I do not think it goes to her ethical character and fitness to be a lawyer.

Ok so Ive got another situation along the same lines for ya:
What about our very own President who took cocaine before he was appointed?
Should that be considered any differently than posing nude????
you can't possible be serious can you? how can you eqaute illegal drugs to posing nude? not even close to being on the same lines. although her behavior may in fact have been immoral and unehtical (although i feel otherwise) by no means can you compare that w/ the use of illegal drugs.
