IUI w/ injectables
Can any1 tell me about the injectables. What drug/ how often/ success rates/ etc?
My dr told me we'd move to this if 2 IUI's w/ just Clomid didn't work. I POAS'd today + BFN so I'm trying to get my head straight for the next step.
Thanks!!!

Re: IUI w/ injectables
You start on Day 3 with whatever the prescribes (I was on Follistim, Gonal F and Menopur at variouis times). This is a shot once a day until your follies are mature enough for your trigger shot (which I assume you've done a trigger shot). I think the bw and sonos are a little more frequent, but I haven't taken clomid in so long I forgot.
As far as success rate for me, it took me two tries for my DS on the follistim, but I'm on my 4th try with DC #2 so it can vary.
Good luck!!

Re: IUI w/ injectables
I just wanted to add that I had bw and sonos done every other day while on the medication. I did 2 injectable/IUI cycles with Gonal-F.
ETA: My first cycle was a BFN and my second cycle ended in a m/c.

Re: IUI w/ injectables
I did three injectable IUI cycles with Follistim. I was monitored about three times a week. Never had any success with it, but I know there are ladies on here who have

Re: IUI w/ injectables
Here's how my first injectables/IUI cycle went:
Here's how November is going so far:
10/31 - CD 1 - Gonal-F, 75 IU
11/1 - CD 2 - Gonal-F, 75 IU
11/2 - CD 3 - Gonal-F, 75 IU
11/3 - CD 4 - Gonal-F, 75 IU. B/W: Estradiol = 71
11/4 - CD 5 - Gonal-F, 75 IU. B/W: Estradiol = 91. Ultrasound - number of "committed" eggs is unknown (still too small).
11/5 - CD 6 - Gonal-F, 75 IU
11/6 - CD 7 - Gonal-F, 75 IU.
11/7 - CD 8 - Gonal-F, 112.5 IU. B/W: Estradiol = 92. Ultrasound - numerous follies on each side, but still no "committed" eggs!
11/8 - CD 9 - Gonal-F, 112.5 IU (I did this one myself!)
11/9 - CD 10 - Gonal-F, 112.5 IU
11/10 - CD 11 - Gonal-F, 112.5 IU, Cetrotide. B/W: Estradiol = 354! Ultrasound - 1 committed egg, 1-2 others that could be also.
11/11 - CD 12 - Gonal-F, 112.5 IU. Cetrotide .25 mg.
11/12 - CD 13 - Gonal-F, 112.5 IU. Cetrotide .25 mg. B/W: Estradiol = 604! Ultrasound - 2 committed eggs!
11/13 - CD 14 - Ovidrel trigger in AM
11/14 - CD 15 - IUI
That was BFN.
In my second cycle, I started on 150 IU instead of 75 and that's the one where we ended up converting to IVF becuase I had so many follies.

Re: IUI w/ injectables
I did 2 rounds of Follistim with Ovidrel trigger and IUI. I produced lots of follicles (around 9 each time) but did not get PG. I don't remember what succes rates are but I know that the risk of multiples goes up to around 30%. Best of luck!

Re: IUI w/ injectables
Thanks everyone. This info is super helpful!
Did your pharmacies carry the shots in stock or did you have to order them?
Are the shots any worse than the Ovidrel shot?

Re: IUI w/ injectables
I did Gonal-F and then triggered with Ovidrel. The Gonal-F was super-simple - a very narrow needle that is attached to the end of a "pen".
I believe most fertility drugs are specialized. Mine have to be ordered from a special service. I know a lot of Dr.'s order from Kraupner's and they deliver all times of the day and night.

Re: IUI w/ injectables
If you can use them and they take your insurance, I suggest using Freedom Fertility Pharmacy. They were super great (used they way too many times). They never screwed up but once they forgot to give me a sharps container (you cannot just throw the needles in the garbage, you have to discard them safely). But, the next day they rushed it overnight to me. You just can't get same day delivery from them. And they can't deliver on Sunday/Monday because Gonal-F must be refrigerated.
Gonal-f pen is as easy as the Ovidrell. Also pre-filled. You just turn this little knob and pull it out and you are ready to go. but, you use the gonal-f pen more than once. Easy easy!!!
Good luck, I hope this next cycle is it for you!!!
