IUI question
Just a little backround......
I am currently on my second cycle of clomid. First cycle was with my OBGYN, and after reading on here about RE I then went to an RE for my second cycle. Finish clomid 50 mg on Sunday and went in today for a Sono. I really big follicle and 1 small one. The NP then asked me if my husband was going to produce there or at home for my IUI. I was like huh I didn't know we were doing an IUI this cycle. He hasn't even had an SA. Which he will be doing this weekend. I was planning on doing the IUI for next cycle. She said that they will only have me do 3 cycles of clomid. I would have thought there would have been atleast 6 cycles before moving forward with an IUI. I am not opposed to it, just didn't realize it would be that soon. So I have to call back tonight to see what my plan is for tomorrow, probably go back for a sono again to see how everything is progressing. Then they will tell us when to BD. After BDing then go in for a post cotial test to see how mr. spermies are interacting with mrs. mucus Any ever encounter any of this? Having a PCT, having an IUI only after 2 cycles of clomid....we have been trying for about 8 cycles.

Re: IUI question
We did one timed intercourse cycle with Clomid with my OB/GYN, then 2 clomid/IUI cycles with her before moving to the RE. We did 2 clomid/IUI cycles with them before moving to IVF. But that's because we found out in the middle of our second cycle with the RE we were dealing with MF as well as my own issues. My RE also said they would only do 3 Clomid cycles

Re: IUI question
Just remember though, that an RE is going to be more aggressive in your treatment.

I agree. I think that its really worth it, if you're going to do a medicated cycle to actually have them intervene a little. They wash the sperm, keep only the good guys and put the sample at the base of your cervix. After, you can BD all you want.
Lost of luck with this cycle

Re: IUI question
Clomid is tricky because they don't want you on it for too long for fear of it thinning your lining and maybe that is your RE's thinking....My RE went straight to IUI w/ us after my Gyn had me on Clomid with times BD for 7 cycles (ERRRRRR !!!!)...Luckily it took on the 3rd try and we got my DS (My RE will only do a max of 3-4 IUI's w/ Clomid before getting more aggressive)...For me, IUI was very non-invasive but you have to do what feels right...Have you had a HSG to check your tubes yet ??? IMO that should be done to rule out any issues before you do an IUI...Good Luck !

Re: IUI question
When I went on Clomid I combined it with IUI because of side effects and my RE recommended Clomid for only 3 cycles before moving on to something more aggressive. IUI is not a big deal and to be honest there is really no good reason not to do it if your insurance will cover it. It also improves your chances. GL!
