IUI process?

Dr. B called last night to talk to me, he said that when I come in on CD3 we can move on to an IUI. Can someone tell me the timeline, llike when do you start meds etc? How long do you take them? What other monitoring is there? He mentioned some med, not clomid but now I can't remember the nameChat Icon TIA!

Re: IUI process?

I had an IUI and this was the result!
<--------------------------------------------

I was on Metformin for months prior to try and regulate my cycles. When I had a sono and they saw a mature follie I was given a trigger shot to ensure my egg would release and about 24hrs. after that I went in for the IUI. My DH went in about an hour earlier than me to leave the sample and then I went in to be inseminated. It took about 5-7min and didn't hurt anymore than a pap smear does. They told me to wait 2 weeks before testing however, I got a BFP at 10DPIUI. Good luck!

Thanks for sharing! He doesn't need to regulate my cycles, just wants to pinpoint ovulation in order to do the IUI. I wish I could remember the name of the med!!

Re: IUI process?

I would think if he wants to pinpoint your ovulation he would be giving you a trigger shot. It is hcg, also called ovidrel. I think there might be another brand name for it as well.

My twins were conceived using metformin/clomid/trigger/IUI.

Re: IUI process?

mine was completely different from most b/c my regular GYN did it. we were tyring for months and my dr. suggested clomid with IUI first, and then would start testing if that didnt work. DH had 2 SA tests done prior and we knew his counts and stuff were fine.

I took clomid days 5-9, i was monitoring o time on the CBEFM monitor. I was told to come in on day 13 b/c clomid is supposed to make you ovulate in 14 days. Little did i know that is not the case. I went in for the IUI on day 13, i didnt ovulate or peak until day 16. (long story but i had a s**& fit in the dr's office about the timing)

anyhow, im 24 weeks pregnant. Im not sure if it was the IUI or the baby dancing we did after that on schedule.

Im pretty sure the clomid is what made the difference though.

Re: IUI process?

I had a completely unmedicted cycle of IUI and got preggo last month. I had an HSG test done and a follicle study done the same day so they could measure the follicles and gauge when I would ovulate. Then I had back to back IUIs done. I got my BFP at about 10DPO.

Re: IUI process?

like Shawnna had mentioned, it was probably Letrozole/Femara.
he uses this over Clomid.

i had 4 IUI's.. and with the Letrozole, i took the pill around CD5 then went in for monitoring to see how the follies grew. then if they are mature, he will tell you to trigger. (hcg) then BD on our own.. or go in for the IUI.

Re: IUI process?

On Letrozole/injectible combo it went like this last month:
Meds CD 3-7, follie check and B/W CD 10. I had one 20mm follie so triggered CD 11 (in the AM) and we BD'd. If we were going to do IUI it would have been trigger CD 10 (at night) then IUI CD's 11 and 12 in the AM.

This was the earliest I ever had a mature follie, ever earlier then on straight injectibles.
