IUI Drug Side effects

I am curious what kind of side effects people have from IUI related drugs. I am sort of afraid of hormone drugs because birth control pills gave me panic attacks many years ago. Could clomid or HSG cause bad side effects?

i have had some side effects but not really from those drugs..i am on a ton of others lol

clomid for me gave me bad hot flashes but thats it..i did not respond to it and my RE took me off as soona si saw him and switched to femara bc being on clomid for too long can thin your lining

as for the other..i assume you mean HCG not HSG bc that is a dye test not a drug

HCG is a trigger shot to guarentee ovulation..never had a side effect other than some minor cramping and bloating and still not sure if it from that or other meds

theres a very wide range of side effects depending on what meds you are using. each med carries its own set of side effects and there are a large variety of meds used for IUI so you'll need to be more specific.

in general almost all injectables cause bloating. however injectables for me anyway had less side effects than pills. this is because pills are mixed with other things since they have to travel through your digestive system before moving to the blood stream. injectables are much purer since they are natural/synthetic hormones that are already present in the body and the go right to the bloodstream.

as for what you mentioned, clomid is known to have some of the worst side effects - primarily headaches, thin uterine lining, and poor cervical mucus. HCG (which im assuming you mean since HSG is a test of the fallopian tubes) and progesterone mimic early pregnancy or PMS symptoms.

Yes, HCG. Although, my RE wanted me to get an HSG and I was scared of that too. To be honest, I am wimp. I don't know how I am even going to give birth

In general, fertility drugs don't have the most pleasant side effects... Bloating especially..

I find that's just one of those things where you just have to 'let go' and figure it is what it is... For me anyway, I'm more afraid of not getting pregnant than dealing with some side effects. I mean, the side effects of NOT using the drugs is not having a baby. So, I'll take my chances.

The best I could say is, don't research side effects before you take the drug because you may not have any. I have taken drugs that other women got night sweats on .. irritability.. nausea, etc.. and I've been fine. You really just have to see how your body reacts. You may handle the drugs really well!
