IUI #1
I just did my first IUI cycle on Gonal-F with a trigger and went for my beta on Wednesday morning. Pretty much as soon as I left the Dr.'s office, I started spotting, so I figured it was negative.
To my surprise on Wednesday afternoon I got a call to say the beta was positive at 16 and I mentioned the spotting. The nurse said it was likely due to the progesterone suppositories but my estrogen was low too and they were calling in a prescription for a patch. They messed up that order and put it through as a 90 day mail order instead of calling it in to CVS. The spotting continued to get worse and I went to the Dr.'s office on Thursday to get an estrogen patch to tide me over until I got the prescription.
Friday was my second beta and by that time I was cramping and the bleeding was heavy, so I knew it wasn't a good positive. That beta came back at 17 so I can't start a new cycle right away until my level is back below 5.
So, IUI #1 did work, but my body failed. Those two days of limbo were really tough, so it's probably best that I take some time off before the next cycle. I haven't spoken with my Dr. yet and am interested to hear what he suggests doing differently the next time.
I'm happy to see some positive results on this board this week. to everyone.

Re: IUI #1
But here's the thing...IUI #1 did work, it resulted in a chemical but at least you know you're on the right track and that you CAN get pregnant. Hopefully once you come off the progesterone suppositories it'll come down quick and you can start right away again.
I'm sorry this happened but try to see the silver lining

Thank you. Yes, it is a relief to know I can get pregnant. We got pregnant the first month trying but miscarried. It's either my eggs are such bad quality because of my age or my hormones are really out of whack, also because of my age. I'm hoping it's my hormones

Re: IUI #1
I agree- you DID get pregnant! That's awesome! Since the problems seem to be pretty obvious (low estrogen/progesterone) it should be easy for them to fix it next time around
I am so sorry for your loss, though.

I'm so sorry! Like the others said, as much as it doesn't seem like good news that you had a chemical, it is bc it means you CAN get pregnant. I know that it doesn't really seem like "good news" and knowing that won't help you necessarily feel any better right now!
for the next time!
