I agree about Elizabeth Warren. I'd like to see her run and hear more about what she has to say.

I'd like a woman president one day, but the right one. I am not sure I trust Hillary - email gate, etc., but she is certainly smart and she has more experience than most candidates which is an important factor to me. She knows world leaders personally and understands how they think. She is up on all the issues and she knows how government works from the inside, both from her jobs and from her time with Bill in the White House. I am going to try to be open minded.

A woman's right to choose is a non-negotiable issue to me. I will not vote for anyone who might jeopardize it, and too many right wing republicans want to revoke that right, and limit access to birth control. We are getting dangerously close to losing our say over our own bodies by little increments, so small that most women have missed them. Except the women in states that have lost them already.

I was a republican during Obama's first campaign, but I voted for him. I switched parties by the second election because I felt my moderate views were no longer represented by the party. Its tent was shrinking and I no longer fit in it. I'd been watching Obama a long time as he was rising in profile and knew he was an extraordinary man. I think history will record him as an excellent president.

Exactly my view on a woman's right to chose.

Pants suit? She's not for me.

But not many liberals are.

I would have taken Daffy Duck over Obama.

Re: It's official - Hillary Clinton to run for President

I don't have a strong opinion about her one way or another. I will be interested to see her opponents in both the primaries and general election (if she makes it, of course). I do think two of the likely attacks on her [Benghazi and the e-mails (http://www.cnn.com/2015/03/06/politics/hillary-clinton-emails-was-there-wrongdoing/)] are completely ridiculous. I'm sure more will come out, but as of now, neither makes me less likely to vote for her.

I'm not thrilled with the idea of a Bush/Clinton election, of which I think there is a decent chance. Too many people from the same family seems like a dangerous precedent to me.

Totally separate from Clinton as a person, the idea of a female president is exciting. We are so far behind so many other nations; it's embarrassing. With that said, it won't guide my vote, of course.

Im waiting to see who will oppose her for the ticket. Im hearing there are not really many strong candidates that will run. Could be a Clinton/Bush race....

I've said it before and I'll say it again -
The Clintons are the Kardashians of American Politics. It seems that NOTHING hurts their brand. It's mystifying.

I will say that I cannot stand when other WOMEN comment on her appearance or the fact that her husband was unfaithful. Male candidates are NEVER judged by other men on their looks but with Hillary women will insult her looks, her sense of fashion, as a woman I find it disgusting. Surely you are allowed to disagree with her politics but you look like a real moron when you talk about another womans appearance.

Re: It's official - Hillary Clinton to run for President

I talk about everyone's appearance... Male or female.

I am pretty versed on the political stuff too, more than the average bear.

It's natural. You don't have to agree with it but it certainly doesn't make me unintelligent or a bad person... It makes me human.

She will always be pants suit. Biden will always be Botox head. Bush will always be bushy. Cheney will always be the brains behind the operation. My 93 year old grandmother called John Kerry's wife a fruit cake. I'm sure they will survive my harmless nicknames. I don't even think I'm a blip on their radar.

Again agree to disagree. I would never lash out at someone for feeling differently. It makes the world spin!

Re: It's official - Hillary Clinton to run for President

I will most likely support her, but I need to do more research first.

With that said - and I don't think this has been mentioned - before anyone supports or rejects her I hope they all actually CHECK her voting/track record.

Assuming you live in NY, she was your senator for several years. Plus of course her time as SOS.

Speaking generally, not just about Hillary: Also, don't only vote on social or national issues. Check on legislation that really affects YOU. For example, there is often proposed legislation to eliminate the mortgage interest deduction. Probably most of the people on this board benefit from that and would lose thousands if it went away. But no one (not just on here but in debates or any other discourse) ever talks about that. When I look at a politician's record I always want to know if they have articulated a clear position on that. How will their actions affect my pocket? My health, or that of the ones I love? Women's rights? My childrens' livelihoods - education, opportunities, etc.? Do your research!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with voting on social issues.

I would never in a million years support a candidate who was not in support of marriage equality. It is not an issue that impacts me directly but I think it speaks volumes about someone's character and will mean more to our society going forward. I don't need a few extra dollars in my pocket - what I need is for every American to be treated the same when it comes to something so basic.

Yes. This! Also If you deny climate change exists, you immediately have lost my vote.

You completely misread my post.

I said don't vote on ONLY social issues.

I have never, and will never, vote for anyone who is against marriage equality either.

However (as an example), I would not vote for a candidate who is FOR marriage equality but ALSO for legislation that would hurt me DRASTICALLY. I would find another candidate who met ALL my criteria, even if they were on a third party ticket only.

You do realize that everyone involved with that whole so called "scandal" was completely absolved of any wrong doing?

Exactly!

I don't know 100% if I will vote for her or not, but I'm sick of people making their decision based on GOP/media propaganda.

And don't even get me started on the personal email "scandal." It's laughable.
