It's not fair!!!
Okay, kind of a pity post.
We own a co-op and can't have a dog. There are some dogs who were grandfathered in and some dogs who were snuck in and went unnoticed for more than a month and therefore, are allowed to stay. Dh and I can't wait to get our own dog. We grew up with them and can't imagine NOT having one. Now, we do have Charlotte, who is the family dog and lives with my IL's but we do babysit her and take her on day trips and pretty much adore her to pieces. She is our baby. If you came to our home, you'd see her pictures everywhere.
So anyway, the people behind my IL's house got a puppy. It was barking yesterday. they must also have a teenage daughter, upper teens. Yesterday, she was either on the phone or with a friend and every time the puppy barked, she would yell "Shut the F*** up!" Seriously, about 8 times. Then the dog must have wanted something and she yells "YOU WANT THIS? GO F****** GET IT!"
And this broke my heart. First of all, I made sure to vocalize my love for Charlotte louder and tell her I love her and played with her in hopes this girl would hear the RIGHT way to treat a dog. Secondly, it killed me that here is this girl who is soooo lucky to have a creature that will love her forever and that is how she talks to it (don't want to know what happens inside).
I really wanted to yell over the fence some choice words, but chose to keep my mouth shut.
But it just pi$$e$ me off. I hate that. Why get a dog??? 
Anyway, vent over. Just wanted to get it off my chest. I know everyone will understand my feelings otherwise we wouldn't have this board.

yeah that does seem unfair..i live in apt i couldnt have a dog but the lady down stairs b4 she move out had 7 cats. go figure n she didnt even take care of them n her house smelled like crapped all the time. but the landlandy didnt believe us till she started smelling it.

I don't blame you. Hearing that is very upsetting. Nothing that breaks my heart more than people who abuse or don't appreciate pets. Keep an eye on the situation to see if the dog somehow gets abused...

I would have felt so much anxiety over that I dont know if I could but out... I know my personality is not no be rude or yell but I might have said something like "omg that's the cutest little puppy I ever saw.. Dont you just love her" Then I would ask if I could play w/her! And kiss her all up and hug her to pieces!!!

I totally would have but the fences are high, so I couldn't see. But yes, I was experiencing this weakness in my legs b/c I was so upset for this dog. I didn't hear anything today except the dog playing with his squeaky toy.
