It's all gone.....ALL 400oz . I want to curl up and cry forever right now
So I went to put 80oz of bm into our chest freezer and it is THAWED     Not only did we lose  in frozen meat, but all 400+ oz of frozen bm is GONE I ep for 12wks because Emmy would not latch and it's just in the last 3-4wks that she is bfing every meal. I am just sick right now....when I think of all the time and effort that went into that freezer stash I don't know what to do. I work 24hr shifts and we are going OOT in June for 3days. I WILL NOT give up on bfing. I WILL do it until she's atleast 6months, but my fall back stash is gone. I have NEVER felt more sick about something. I just bawled watching Joe throw those bags out.

oh honey...you poor thing...as someone who had so many issues with bfing this time around, I have been pumping (and hating it!) for 10 months now...so I can totally understand how you feel.....sending you lots of  s!!!!

Ohhhhhh Lindi...I am so, so sorry. I know how badly that hurts. The same exact thing happened to me. My DH had gone out to the deep freezer to take some meat out. He set the frozen BM over to the side so that he could get it out--and then he found it the next morning. It was the dead of summer and it was all completely melted. I don't think I was ever so upset with him before.
I had to pump and dump about 400 oz. of milk while I was on an antibiotic that was incompatible with BF.
All of this, and we still perservered. DD BF until she was 10 months. You are right to be upset, it's enough to make you sick...but you also have the right attitude about not giving up.
What happened? Did the freezer break, or did you lose power to the freezer and not realize it?
You will be able to recover it, don't worry!!!!!

If it makes you feel any better, now that she is BFing, you probably would not have been able to use all of it anyway.

I know how you feel. I had to throw out around 100oz. when I found out DS was allergic to dairy and soy. I cried too. I'm sure you will build your stash back up buy the time you go away.

Uggghhhhh!!!! I am so sorry this happened to you! I can just imagine how awful you must feel :( this is my biggest fear with my stash. I am seriously contemplating giving my mom and mil bags to store in their freezer just in case.
Don't worry...you will build your stash up again...its going to take a while...put it seems to me that you are determined and won't give up on BFing and pumping.
Good luck...don't stress...we need to make sure your boobies keep producing ;) And once again...sorry!!!

I have no idea what happened. The lights were on and we assumed it was working since we have NEVER had a problem, but I opened it and it was 100% thawed. I had a 10lb turkey in there and it was completely thawed so it has been at least a week or so. I am just sick about it.
I appreciate the support, and yes having her bfing is a LIFESAVER, but anybody who has struggled with bfing/latching/building a suppy knows that it's blood swet and tears that go into every oz you pump. I have a refill on Reglan so I'll refill it tomorrow and pump after every feeding and through the night again. I HAVE to get a stash back up for work. That's the part that's so horrible. Working 24hrs and being gone for 26 2xa week will kill what I have left.

I feel your pain. I pumped for 3 months and had a large freezer stash also then DD was diagnosed with a milk allergy and I had to cut all dairy from my diet and throw away all the pumped BM b/c i had been consuming dairy at the time I pumped. Its heartbreaking when you think of all the sacrifice, time and effort that went in.

The same thing happend to me. TWICE. I could STILL cry over the waste of it.
Believe me, you'll make it up. It will be OK. As she gets older, she'll be taking in less and the stash you have will stretch longer.
Even after throwing away a few hundred ounces 3 weeks before going back to work, I still wound up being able to pump plenty of milk for her. Just recently, we threw out about 50 bags left over I (DD weaned 4 months ago).
Have a good cry as it's definitely worth having a tantrum over. But it WILL be OK!

I am so sorry. I know how much work it is to do all of that pumping. I don't even know what to say to you.
You are a great Mom to be so committed to BFing. It is such hard work to work such long hours and still be committed to BFing.
