She was going to stay until tomorrow. I actually just told my DH to call her to say it's fine if she wants to leave after the floors guys get here today and I'll just go into work late tomorrow (after letting in the workmen).
I can't take having someone in my space this long. I can't take the comments she keeps making about eveything I want to do. I can't take the fact that she came for the sole purpose of helping us and painting and hasn't gotten more than 1 room done in a week and a half... I can't take that she can't see the big picture - she is missing the forest for the trees. She expects me to focus on something like switch plates when we didn't even have dry wall up yet. 
I love her dearly but this was too long of a visit and a bad idea having family work on the house.
She and FIL wanted to come help us this Saturday - move in day. They honestly thought we wanted to have parents here our very first night in our very first house?! *sigh* They're NOT coming back... but c'mon... They really thought we wouldn't want to be alone?
I'm done with this. I have 5 days to pack everything AND now I have to paint the house that never got painted... I need my space. And I need it NOW.

Thanks for understanding. I think the hardest part about this is that I feel like a giant snotty biotch complaining b/c she DID come to help us out and she certainly didn't have to... she's just creating too much stress and has been here too long now. I think we all need a break. 
I'm sure she's just as sick of us.

i know what you mean. there are plenty of times when my MIL tries to "help" and it is genuine---BUT when it just causes me to have to do something again or double work--thats when you just cant to say "Thank, but no thanks!"
doesn't help you are under a buttload of stress moving!!!

I'm not sure how someone can mean well when they are giving you backhanded compliments all the time. I wanted something painted a certain way in the room. She said "okay" (She asked me how I wanted it done.)
She finishes, shows me, and says, "I wasn't sure what on earth you were thinking making me paint that stupid thing, but it actually turned out nice." (and she was SUPER suprised)
She went out and bought all these cleaning supplies I already had b/c she didn't think I'd buy such things. (What? Like I've never cleaned in the years I've lived alone. She was shocked I had fantastic. What does she think I am?!)

Yup, 99% of the work is being done by paid professionals. They wanted to do this so bad, so we said "sure." Big mistake. We've agreed - never again.
I'd rather have paid painters $2k (which I'll probably have to do anyway now) than put up with this...
