it is all so expensive
my lamazee class is $300 and my hosptial (in NYC) is asking for $300 co-pay by august. I know once the baby is here things will be more expensive, but i never knew having the baby would be also.

Honestly, I don't think right now it is expensive at all. Everyone said it would be but I rarely spend any money on him.
I have a diaper service that is $40 a month for 240 diapers and his formula I get in bulk on ebay now. He doesn't need any clothes for at least a year
I know when he gets older it will cost more but we are enjoying it not right now

same here...this is the ONLY real concern Ive been having. How the heck is one supposed to afford to work and is it even worth it?

The only way we could possibly do it is if I work opposite shifts than DH, but then I'll barely see him.

This is why we will just buy a video
We just bought the video too and we learned a lot. When you are in labor they tell you what to do too. If you're planning a c/s then dont even bother learing lamaze (IMO).

I'm still confused about this. Does your Dr. and hospital take your insurance? Is the $300 a deductable?
I just looked and I don't have a hospital co-pay.

it does take my insurance, but hosptial policy is that they take a co-payment. I need to confirm because my insurance pays $150 per night for after birth so i don't know why the hospital is making me pay this. what insurance do you have?

I have United Healthcare. I think you should definately confirm with your insurance. If they take your insurance, then I don't see how they can charge you a seperate co-pay. Just to be sure, at least.

called my insurance. it is a hospital stay co-pay. it isn't a deductible so apparently where i will be delivering requires that i pay in advance for the service they will render

I paid $50 for my entire hospital stay..including my c/s. So every insurance is different.
I think a good birthing class is worth the money. JMO.
