It is 4am.... and Dh and I are not welll

ETA
DH starts work early...

I am not sure what goes on but I am now a sahm (the last 7 mths, dd is now 14mths, I worked before dh and dd) and I love it to death but, I am not the same person at all... He does not understand this one bit... I was an NYC girl...

To him I "hang out" all day...
So I guess waking up, feeding, nail cutting, changing, bathing, reading too, teaching is all fun....I love it but it is not a chore, this is what a mommy or daddy does!

Sorry I needed to vent... I am soooooooooooooooooooooooo sad....
This fight hurts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Being a full time mommy is so much harder than being at work!!! I come to work for a break!!!

Ask him to stay at home with the baby for a whole day, try to keep the house clean, the baby fed and watered etc and see how he does!

This too shall pass...

Re: It is 4am.... and Dh and I are not welll

Being a dad with the kids for an entire day, or at least spanning a few hours (must include at least one meal) really opens a guy's eyes to what his SAHM DW goes through. I love watching the kids for a few hours to help DW, but I'm not sure if I could do it all the time, every day (I mean, if I *had* to, I could, but I'm not sure if I could voluntarily).

I always tell DH Im leaving for a whole day to see what he can do...He freaks out..LOL
He will be feeding DS and ask for a bib, a burp cloth, etc..
I have to ask him "And who gets me these things during the day?"
UUUUGGGHHHH
DH works LONG hours! As soon as we are done with dinner, he knows its DH and DS time!
He has gotten A LOT better! He knows I will be more than happy to plan a ladies day anyday now!Chat Icon

Re: It is 4am.... and Dh and I are not welll

Well leave him on a Saturday from morning til night and see what he thinks after that. Seriously how else will he know what you do all day until he experiences it. My Dh has had to watch Ryan for a weekend alone and will have to do it again in June. Not only did he gain respect for me (not that he was lacking that, but you know what I mean) but he also gained confidence in his abilities to care for the baby!!

now, night wakings is another story but I'll take what I can get. Chat Icon

Re: It is 4am.... and Dh and I are not welll

I find it to be useless to show it what it's like to be home with the baby for a full day BECAUSE THEY DON'T DO WHAT WE DO. My DH watches the girls one day a week (and I'm thankful for that HOWEVER).....all he does is watch them. Most times I'll come home and the laundry is still in the basket, the girls are still in their PJs etc but he played with them all day.

Men are NOT multi-taskers...they will never get it.

I work FT and my DH is a detective in NYC....he works lots of hours and I do it all. Most weeks, I feel like I'm a working, single mom. I never get a day off! I tell him how much I do and he will agree with me that I do it all but as soon as I question him why he doesn't do the same, he has no answer but comes up with some dumb response like I work lots....HELLO so do I.

So I think whether your SAHM or a working mom, the problem is the HUSBAND and the lack of help! LOL

Being a mom is a very very tough job and it's exhausting...you will get through it, be strong!!!! Chat Icon

I agree with Racheeeee! I come to work for a vacation. Of course I miss my baby, but staying home wth him is a lot of work.

I'm sure things will work itself out. I know how you feel, though because we're having a hard time as well. Chat Icon

Re: It is 4am.... and Dh and I are not welll

I understand - being a mommy is tough work and i think alot of people take it for granted exactly how much we do and how we can't take our eyes off our little ones for a second because of what they will do next, put in their mouths etc......

Have a talk with DH - trust me you aren't the only one going through thisChat Icon Chat Icon

He doesn't get it - let him stay home all day once by himself and he'll change his tune.

I am not a SAHM - but I was off for the first year with them and I can tell you first hand it is MUCH EASIER to go to work.

Oh gosh me and my Dh had this argument yesterday when I said I would like a little more help. He said but I work and I'm tired.Chat Icon Chat Icon

YEAH AND WHAT DO I DO???

I hate when he says that I work just as hard and I don't get breaks or as much sleep as him. He is by far a multi tasker.

Sometime I feel he just plays dumbChat Icon Chat Icon

I agree with this completely! My DH is a SAHD...but, he doesn't do everything around the house that I would do when I am home. He takes care of DD and usually makes dinner...but laundry is done on the weekends, when I'm with DD. If I ask him to do the baby's laundry, it sometimes consists of him putting in the washer...when I come home from work, I put it in the dryer and fold it. I have told him, putting in the washing machine does not constitute doing laundry! Chat Icon Chat Icon

ETA: We have a cleaning lady that comes once a week, because waiting for DH to clean, I would wait forever. And, I don't want to spend my only days off on the weekend cleaning!

Re: It is 4am.... and Dh and I are not welll

I understand 100%%%. I was also a career woman, with my own life and interests till DD was born. I stayed home with her for 2 1/2 years. I did love spending that time with her- but I felt like a shadow of my former self. I went back to work part time just for my sanity!!!!!

The daily grind of being a sahm was killing me. I am much happier now. Maybe you could work part time, join a gym with child care or just set up regular nights out....It really helps a lot !!!
