Is your DC a light sleeper?

I am just curious because my DD is such a light sleeper. I have to tip toe upstairs when she is sleeping because the slightest noise wakes her up...the wood floors creaking, the garbage truck in the morning, even when the steam comes up and makes a noise in the radiator...it is sooo frustrating.

Oh when my DH gets ready in the morning...he is so loud..he almost always wakes her up!

She is napping now....we'll see how long that will last...she is such a horrible sleeper as it is.

Just curious if anyone's DC is like that?

Yes! Snowy mornings kill me. The trucks wake him every time.

yes DD2 is such a light sleeper.. alot of it turned out to be bc of ear infections..the weird thing is we can have a party and she wont wake BUT if you open the door to her room or the floor creeks then stirs or awakens (she quickly goes back down) ive learned not to check on her bc i dont want to wke her. thank god for video monitors

No. Thank God. But, i personaly think its because we were never the "the babies sleeping, dont speak" people. We always had it loud for him when he slept. He would fall asleep to Stern blasting on the tv, music playing etc. I think that is why he is such a sound sleeper. It call all be total luck too, who knows.

Re: Is your DC a light sleeper?

It depends. She wasn't in the beg. I was so worried when we brought her home that my monsters (2 big dogs) who bark at everything would wake her up..and nada. I was never the type to shhsh everyone.. and she'd fall asleep with tv, lights, noise..and then stay asleep..esp. if i let her sleep on/with me.

Now it seems like a lot of little noises wake her up. If i cough.. if the door opens. If someone sneezes or laughs...etc.
i do think she may be teething she's 3.5 months and has def. started showing some signs.. so maybe that's part of it...but i'm not 100% sure..

DS will wake up for certain noises. The creaky floor board outside his bedroom door, my husbands loud voice, the door opening to his room...It is weird. He can sleep through the dog howling, the train horns, and the fire whistles...

Re: Is your DC a light sleeper?

We use a sound machine. But for naps he can still hear EVERYTHING.

Typically at night he can sleep through anything.

Have you tried a sound machine? I mean a really good one from B and H or sharper image. It really helps

DS is such a light sleeper. We tried to get him used to noise when he was a NB but it just didn't work. I can't get much done during his nap which really sucks. Usually I am trapped in whatever room I am in because if I go up or down the stairs it's over. I can't blame the kid though, I am the same way. DH jokes that if an ant passes gas in the next room it wakes me Chat Icon

Chat Icon That's great - I'm the same way. I just told my DH this, we cracked up. Yes, DS is a very light sleeper - I tiptoe on the stairs and know where to step to avoid the creaks. I try not to have a light shine into his room too. And I try not to talk during naps - if I need to make calls I go in a room and shut the door. Never my intention - hoped he'd lslee through anything, but I'm the same way - I need quiet to keep sleeping - super sensitive.

Yup, its horrible! Both my boys are terrible sleepers. If I breathe too hard they are awake. We use a noice maching during the night which does drown out A LOT of the noise but its not perfect.

Re: Is your DC a light sleeper?

DD was a lighter slepper when she was younger. thankfully...shes somewhat outgrown that. I still have to keep things quiet when she first goes to sleep...but once shes out...shes OUT for the count.
