Or does it just make you worry? I wanted to get it so I understand what is going on throughout my pregnancy, since I am very clueless it seems onto what is going on inside my body Chat Icon
Just wondering if that was a good book, or if there is a better one...TIA

I think that depends on the readers personality more than the book. I know alot of people don't like it because they feel it gives too much information and makes them worry.

I like it, but for some reason the extra information about what 'could' happen doesn't worry me. As far as weights and measurements, I tend to look at what the book says as averages, not doctrine - but this could also be because I have never been normal medically. The average human body temperature is 98.6 - mine normal temp is 97.8 - I have even had trouble giving blood because of this, although my Dr.s have never had a problem with this, they just told me the 98.6 is average. I take the info in that book the same way - if that makes sense.

I have another book I like a lot ("Your Pregnancy Week by Week") and it doesn't seem to go into all the things that "could" happen. If you feel you tend to worry, this book may be better for you.

I prefer "Your Pregnancy Week by Week" by Glade Curtis MD and Judith Schuler MS. I got mine at Barnes and Noble. It is a great book that many ladies on this board recommended when I asked for reading advice!

I prefer this one too!!! I found it more factual, and the format of what's happening this week is REALLY good.

I've visited the bookstore and seen most of them. I liked the Mayo Clinic Guide and the Pregnancy Bible but much prefer the Pregnancy Bible over any others 'cus there's loads of pictures too. It shows how the woman's body progress monthly and the baby weekly.

Pictures are worth a thousand words, right?

Honestly I bought both, and they both seem to be very similar, I do agree though with what to expect when expecting, it can get a little alarmist!

I have both, but I much prefer the "Pregnancy Week by Week" one.

"What to Expect" is overly cautious and I was going crazy worrying all the time.

I have it and I look through it a lot. It does kind of make me worry a lot though. It really stresses eating well and not gaining too much weight. I also have How to Eat Well When Expecting, whic was only ok...

Thanks for posting this link! Ilove the real photographs - how do they do that??? I wouldn't be comfortable letting a dr. put a camera in there.
