"Violet"???
its my boyfriends new obsession. he thinks that should be the name if its a girl.
i like it but dont love it. it makes me think of jennifer garner and ben affleck.
is it common these days???
him and i are so opposite with girl names.

I don't think it's popular. That is my girl name if we have another but it would be after my Grandmother so we have reason to use it.
I think you have to love a name to use it but that's just me. I love both my kids names and it was a hard process picking them.

I have a friend who recently named her DD Violet but I don't think it's popular. I think it's such a beautiful name....I love flower names.

I don't hear it very odten, i think Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck is the only child I have heard that name from. It's very pretty though!

I love the name Violet. I do not think it is super-popular, but I did think of Ben Affleck & Jen Garner ....
If you wanted to funk it up, Violetta is a version of it.
And of course there is Vylette, from the movie Jawbreakers...

I think the Affleck's put it back on the map and from this data it kind of shows that. I think it will continue to get more popular since it is such a pretty name and it is getting back in circulation.

I know of a couple of people who have named their daughters Violet over the last few years-- co-workers and such.
I think it's out there-- but, not an overwhelmingly popular name. Like, there MAY be another Violet in school, but probably not in your child's class, KWIM?

not popular. it's cute, but it wouldn't be my choice. all it makes me think of is the gum chewing girl from WIlly Wonka and the Chooclate Factory: "Violet, you're turning violet, Violet!"
