Is this anyone else's first year decorating for the holidays?

DH and I have never really decorated for the holidays and last year, DS was only 6 months old, so we didn't even get a tree.

We spend Christmas eve and Christmas with the IL's so it always seemed like a waste since we weren't even going to be home.

But, I feel like this year DS is old enough and will notice and I want to get the excitement building for him but we've never done it before.

Truthfully, I'm overwhelmed thinking about getting a tree, stockings, putting lights up, etc.

What do you do to decorate for the holidays?

This is our first year too - we've always done a tree but I want to do a bit more now. I have asked MIL to get DS a stocking and I'll get stickings for me and DH. I don't know how much I'll actually do since DS is almost walking which means a lot of things are within his grasp, but I love the look of garlands and wreaths

My guess is that I'll stick to things I can display on tables, like bowls filled with ornaments and candles.

Don't be overwhelmed, it's fun!!

We don't do a ton, but the first year we got a tree (back in 2003 ) we just bought balls and lights at CVS. But Target has GREAT canisters with balls or other decorations and that will set you up, you know?

We do the tree, stockings, and then we have some other decorations we put in our built ins and stuff

i would just get a tree, do stockings and some decorations around the house. I wouldn't go crazy, especially since buying all this stuff can get expensive.

But right after christmas, go shopping and get all the christmas stuff on sale for next year.
